The role

We have an exciting opportunity to join Transport for London\xe2\x80\x99s (TfL) Consulting team. We manage and deliver commercial projects for UK and overseas clients external to TfL \xe2\x80\x93 cities, governments, operators, consultancy companies \xe2\x80\x93 to help them improve the transport services of their communities.

We have a growing portfolio of diverse and high-profile projects across the globe, covering a vast range of activities where TfL is sought out for our world-leading expertise. TfL Consulting brings together teams of experts from across TfL and manage projects to ensure they are high quality, on time and to budget for our external clients. We also support TfL in commercialising products and services developed in-house, supporting TfL\xe2\x80\x99s financial sustainability.

This role is for you if you would enjoy leading on compelling and persuasive bids that sell TfL\xe2\x80\x99s experts\xe2\x80\x99 experience, managing projects that exceed our clients\xe2\x80\x99 expectations and delivering top-quality commercial, financial and technical results in projects. You will regularly work with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders, so you will need to be an excellent communicator across different media. You\xe2\x80\x99ll also need to uphold our contractual commitments to clients while minimising risk to TfL and have meticulous project management capabilities. Your skills

\xc2\xb7 Communication: you\xe2\x80\x99ll be a good listener, can build rapport with clients and colleagues by translating client requirements into clear and concise plans, actions and deliverables.

\xc2\xb7 Project management: you\xe2\x80\x99ll be a brilliant planner, organising and managing resources to deliver projects to time, cost and quality and creatively solve problems, ensuring your projects are fully compliant with Safety, Health & Environment, commercial, legal and governance requirements.

\xc2\xb7 Commercial acumen: you\xe2\x80\x99ll be able to see opportunities to create value for clients that bring revenue into TfL, with the ability to thrive in a target-driven performance-focused commercial environment. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be the consultant, not the client.

\xc2\xb7 Data: you\xe2\x80\x99ll be able to assimilate information rapidly and manage complex data to draw clear and concise insight and help it tell a compelling story and impart a message. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be comfortable with gathering and using different sorts of data and understanding its strengths and weaknesses.

Your knowledge

\xc2\xb7 Transport: you\xe2\x80\x99ll have an understanding and interest in different transport industry sectors and how transport systems operate in cities, as well as knowledge of TfL\xe2\x80\x99s unique selling points. Your transport knowledge is wide-ranging, covering engineering, modelling and IT through to communications, behaviour change and safety.

\xc2\xb7 Contracts: you may know your way around contracts, having reviewed and negotiated for consultancy-type projects, managed delivery to commitments and targets throughout the lifecycle of a project, and managed an organisation\xe2\x80\x99s exposure to risk in collaboration with a legal team.

\xc2\xb7 Consultancy: you\xe2\x80\x99ll know how consultancy works, how to manage business relationships with clients, how to run profitable and successful projects or concession contracts and understand delivery and commercial risk.

\xc2\xb7 Technical expertise: we are particularly interested to hear from you if you have a successful track record as a project manager in a matrixed environment, experience as a specialist in managing complex contracts, have brought innovative products to market, have delivered online learning solutions or have a background in transport or management consultancy.

Your experience

\xc2\xb7 Leadership: you\xe2\x80\x99ll have developed the confidence and awareness to manage people and projects in face-to-face and online settings. You\xe2\x80\x99ll have managed workshops, and led meetings, with stakeholders.

\xc2\xb7 Delivery: you\xe2\x80\x99ll have successfully delivered bids/projects as a consultant or a project manager in complex settings with multiple stakeholders and competing pressures.

\xc2\xb7 Communication: you\xe2\x80\x99ll be an excellent communicator, able to demonstrate your experience in engaging and persuading a wide variety of audiences using different channels and techniques.

\xc2\xb7 Commercial: you\xe2\x80\x99ll ideally have experience negotiating budgets, assessing risk and managing, tracking and delivering contracts.
