Job Description


Retail is a relatively new defined area of the business, the S&ED team within it, is less established compared to others and is at the early stages of development. We are looking for a Senior Content Designer that not only shapes content within the sphere of retail, but also plays a key part in embedding best practice across every area, we\xe2\x80\x99ll need you to help shape its future.

Supporting the Senior Experience Lead, the Senior Content Designer will have accountability for shaping the appropriate content across all project archetypes with day-to-day accountability for small-medium sized projects across the Retail area.

Bringing journeys to life through engaging narrative and by collaborating with UX, design, development, project management, analytic and other content designers to shape and create compelling copy, often across multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibility to promote and exemplify a content-first approach with both colleagues and stakeholders.

The scope of projects this role will own the content design work for will span all experience and service touch points (including, branch, ATM and other).

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Interrogate the messaging element of each brief to uncover opportunities for effective storytelling.
  • Flag any messaging or content challenges early so the business has chance to resolve them.
  • Deal effectively with stakeholders across our business \xe2\x80\x93 ranging from product management to compliance \xe2\x80\x93 to ensure delivery of customer-centred messaging.
  • Help define and champion best practice at every stage of a project and be willing to argue the case for what\xe2\x80\x99s right, not what\xe2\x80\x99s easy.
  • Create messaging that our members can relate to and believe in.
  • Drive standards of copywriting ever higher and demonstrate the difference this makes.
  • Encourage other content designers and colleagues from across our business to deliver more effective, member-focused content.
  • Find ways to improve existing content so that it has a measurable impact on our business.
Be a key proponent of the requirements of Consumer Duty and associated comms assets and user journey uplift.

About you:
  • Proven experience of successful management and delivery of the copywriting elements across an organisation.
  • A good track record in delivering excellent writing, demonstrated through your portfolio.
  • Good commercial awareness, strategic thinking and an ability to deliver customer-focused copy.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams, as well as on your own, coupled with strong influencing skills.
  • Superb time management and planning skills, enabling you to manage and deliver competing deliverables.
  • A curious, positive, creative mind that\xe2\x80\x99s always looking for new ways to deliver better digital experiences.
  • A natural storytelling ability, essential for creating compelling narratives, plus proven critiquing, facilitating and presenting skills.
  • Excellent people skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully to colleagues so that they feel persuaded of the right choices.
  • Be able to demonstrate good team working behaviours.
  • Someone who can work easily and effectively outside the realms of their job description.
