Job summary
What if you could transform the way a national regulator delivers digital services, making them accessible to everyone? As Ofgem's first Senior Digital Accessibility Specialist, you will lead efforts to embed accessibility into everything we design and deliver and drive lasting change across the organisation.
Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. We're at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving towards Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
This is a permanent opportunity to shape and deliver Ofgem's first dedicated digital accessibility role within our Digital Delivery team. You'll play a key part in strengthening accessibility capability across multidisciplinary teams, helping colleagues in design, development, and quality assurance to embed accessibility in their everyday work. It's a chance to make a real difference by ensuring that digital services not only comply with UK law and GDS standards but are genuinely usable by all.
You'll make accessibility central to how we deliver digital services, work with delivery teams, providing expertise and ensuring our services meet the highest standards. You will have visibility across multiple projects, the chance to collaborate with talented colleagues in design and development, and the satisfaction of seeing your input make a tangible difference.
Job description
We're looking for someone with proven experience in an accessibility role, with expert knowledge of WCAG standards, familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA, and experience auditing websites and testing with assistive technologies. Experience of auditing websites, reporting accessibility issues, and testing with a range of assistive technologies, alongside strong collaboration and communication skills.
You'll join a forward-thinking, user-centred design team where accessibility isn't treated as an afterthought but as a core part of our approach. As the first dedicated accessibility specialist, you'll carve out your own space, set the standard, and leave a legacy by shaping how digital accessibility is delivered across Ofgem. This is a role where your expertise will not just be recognised but will set the direction of travel for the entire organisation.
We have a critical mission to ensure that the digital services underpinning our schemes are accessible to all users. By joining Ofgem, you'll play a defining role in shaping how accessibility is understood, prioritised, and delivered across our organisation.
