Are you an Electronic Design Engineer passionate about new product development including Analogue and Digital designs? If so, this could be your opportunity to join a truly global brand.

Working from our Hemel Hempstead Production site, this is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team where you will lead the whole lifecycle Electronics Products Development within any given project, utilising specialist subcontractors/analysis software as required to deliver in a fast-moving development environment. As a senior contributor, you will be managing and reviewing the Electronics Design work for other team members and work from contractors, managing multiple projects at any one time.

Duties & Responsibilities

What you\'ll do -
  • Development of high quality, high demand products sold into a regulated environment.
  • Collaborate as a team member to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Generate concept designs for technology development projects.
  • Understand and interpret technical requirement specifications.
  • Allocating work for Technicians.
  • Technical lead of Electronics aspects for a project.
  • Optimise design concepts to provide the most cost-effective solution that will meet specification requirements.
  • Specify and conduct verification testing of design solutions, to ensure they meet the specification requirements.
  • Produce documentation to define the product design, enabling the cost-effective manufacture of the design.
  • Support the product design throughout its life, making continuous improvements to improve product value.
  • Function as a team member on multi-functional project teams, across multiple projects.
  • Active member of the Electronic Engineering Department; developing and coaching the junior members of staff; and continually challenging and improving the departmental processes.
  • Estimating tasks and executing work packages within defined scope and budget.
  • Technical product support to manufacturing & service.
  • Actively communicate with senior members within the local engineering team, other disciplines within the department and the wider Smiths Detection community to facilitate the work of the company.
  • Responsible for personal health & safety of all that may be affected by your activities, to arrange appropriate risk assessments whilst working internally & externally for Smiths Detection.
The Individual

What you\'ll definitely need -
  • Electronic Engineering Degree / HNC (or equivalent).
  • Work easily across cross-functional project teams and has a good understanding and experience of the Engineering life cycle.
  • You must possess excellent analogue design skills and competent user of schematic capture & simulation tools.
  • Collaborative team worker, individually motivated working well without supervision and committed to deadlines.
  • Positive mind-set with enthusiasm to succeed.
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills that can be applied at all levels in Smiths Detection
  • Holder of current SC security clearance or UK national capable of obtaining security clearance is essential
