The Simulator Company Ltd develops advanced medical simulators, lifelike animatronics, that support healthcare training globally. We are expanding and looking for an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to take ownership of hardware and firmware development for our connected products.
The Role
This is a fully on-site role where you will lead embedded systems development across the full product lifecycle: from early board design and firmware development through to fully assembled, production-ready systems. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, mobile app, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, real-world products.
Key Responsibilities
Design PCBs and electronic systems for electromechanical products with multiple sensors and actuators.
Develop firmware in C/C++ for motor control, sensors, and wireless communications.
Work with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, CAN, and serial communication protocols.
Develop production test firmware and support product validation.
Collaborate with app developers and cloud teams on system integration.
Evaluate components and support supplier selection.
Work closely with manufacturing to support assembly, testing, and production processes.
Mentor junior engineers and maintain code quality standards.
Requirements
Degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
6+ years of experience developing embedded hardware and firmware for physical products.
Experience designing and testing PCBAs (Altium, KiCad, or similar).
Strong embedded C/C++ programming skills.
Experience with wireless communication protocols.
Experience with motor control, actuators, and sensor integration.
Comfortable using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc).
Strong problem-solving, organisation, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
Experience working to medical device standards such as ISO 13485 or IEC 60601.
Experience with robotics, motion control systems, or automation.
Familiarity with IoT devices or mobile app integration.
