BakerHicks is supporting a key client in Scotland's rail sector, with a high-priority secondment opportunity for a Senior or Engineer-level Rail Engineer. This role offers the chance to work in partnership with one of our key clients, contributing to nationally significant infrastructure programmes.



It's a fantastic opportunity to apply your expertise across drainage, geotechnical, and lineside civil engineering, while collaborating closely with stakeholders and multidisciplinary technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Drainage RAM workbank, managing assets with missing condition scores and investigating unrecorded infrastructure. Lead and deliver lineside civil engineering projects, including boundary wall programme coordination and assurance. Conduct desk studies, risk assessments, and optioneering for high-risk flooding areas, supporting climate change adaptation planning. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and reporting. Contribute to CP8 planning and provide technical recommendations for constructible, cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

Essential

Proven experience in rail drainage, geotechnical, or lineside civil engineering. Strong background in project management and delivery, stakeholder coordination, and risk management. PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification or willingness to obtain promptly.

Desirable

Proficiency inInfoDrainage modelling. Familiarity with geo-RINM mapping/correction, condition data workflows, and drainage optioneering.
