Summary

Caddick Construction is a family-owned business with a proud reputation for quality, collaboration, and delivering standout projects across the UK. We're looking for an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join our Preconstruction team, working on a diverse range of tenders across sectors such as Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Education and more.

You'll play a key role in helping us secure work and shape commercially successful bids that stand out from the competition.

What You'll Do

Estimator / Senior Estimator

Take ownership of the commercial tender process, from reviewing tender documentation to compiling robust cost estimates. Lead the pricing process, identifying value engineering opportunities, potential risks and alternative construction methods. Build and issue tender packages to subcontractors, ensuring strong technical and commercial coverage with competitive returns. Compare quotes, develop pricing summaries, and compile clear, accurate submissions in collaboration with the wider bid team. Engage with clients, supply chain, consultants and internal teams to ensure tenders meet all expectations and reflect live market conditions. Support post-tender negotiations and handovers to operational teams. Produce clear cost planning, early budget advice, and benchmarking data. Contribute to bid meetings, clarifications, interviews and settlement reviews. Visit live and prospective sites, contribute to case studies, and share lessons learned. Assist with quality submission content and support wider preconstruction activity. Stay current with new regulations, industry innovations, MMC, and supply chain trends.

What We're Looking For

Skills and Experience

Strong estimating experience in the construction industry, ideally across multiple sectors, including residential housing. Excellent understanding of subcontract procurement, tender processes, and estimating software (e.g. Conquest, Bluebeam, Cubelay). Able to confidently analyse drawings, specs, contracts and financial data. Comfortable managing and prioritising multiple tenders. Experience with NEC and JCT contracts. A commercial mindset and solid negotiating skills. Capable of presenting to clients and senior leadership teams.

Personal Attributes

Organised, analytical and detail-oriented. Able to work independently and as part of a wider team. Clear communicator - written and verbal. Strong time management and a positive, proactive approach. Motivated to support growth and continually improve.

Qualifications

Relevant construction-related qualifications (e.g. HNC, HND, or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management). A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required.
