We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team. The role is full time and permanent.

As Senior Financial Accountant you will be responsible for the preparation of the annual statutory accounts, managing the external audit cycle, and taking a lead on the Charity's annual tax planning, developing the tax strategy, mitigating risk and maximising recovery.



You will:



Own the year end process, audit and preparation of the annual statutory accounts for the Charity and trading subsidiary in line with Charities SORP. Engage with external auditors and internal auditors and leading on the implementation of audit recommendations as appropriate. Lead the Charity's annual tax planning work, supporting the Finance Director in developing the tax strategy and resolving tax queries internally Keep abreast of developments impacting financial accounting and reporting and leading in the implementation of changes as appropriate. Leading in the resolution of financial accounting queries. Report to the Financial Controller and managing a small Financial Accounting team. Develop cashflow forecasting and managing cash balances in line with the Investment Policy. Own, develop, and manage the processes for monitoring and releasing restricted reserves. Lead process review and improvements as appropriate.

We are looking for:



A fully qualified chartered accountant Sound understanding of tax matters ideally within a non-profit setting (VAT, including partial exemption, Corporation Tax, option to tax, capital good scheme etc.) Experience of working in, or audited, a financial control function in a complex organisation Strong understanding and experience of statutory accounting experience Previous experience in managing or supervising a team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong technical skills and advanced level Excel capabilities
