Senior Financial Accountant
Department: Financial Control - Balance Sheet Control

Location: Swindon/London

Reports to: Finance Manager / Head of Financial Control

Salary: 65,000 to 75,000

Contract Type: Permanent
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented accountant to join our Financial Control team as a Senior Financial Accountant. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting and controls environment.

You will support statutory and management reporting, month-end close activities, and contribute to process improvements within the finance function.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy of journals and reconciliations. Manage the client bank reconciliation process. Oversee the eMoney process, ensuring a thorough understanding of transaction flows, maintaining reconciliations and investigating variances. Ensure correct segregation of client cash from the overall cash position and execute necessary transfers to maintain balance. Prepare Investment Bonds and Treasury Bills journals, ensuring accurate valuation, recognition and accounting for coupon receipts and redemptions. Maintain and reconcile the suspense general ledger account, ensuring no unreconciled balances remain at month-end. Assist in preparation of statutory accounts and audit schedules; liaise with external auditors and provide detailed walkthroughs. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures; maintain and update relevant procedures to support continuous improvement. Perform shared service duties on behalf of the EU Entity, including managing investment bonds, client bank reconciliation, suspense account reconciliation and managing the eMoney process. Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting tools, and process efficiency. Ad hoc financial projects and analysis as required by the Financial Controller.

Key Requirements
Essential:Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Strong understanding of UK GAAP and/or IFRS. Solid experience in financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end close. Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with financial ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Netsuite). Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work cross-functionally. Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities.

Desirable:Banking/Fintech background Experience working in a Financial Control or Group Finance environment. Experience with Oracle E-business Suite. Exposure to process automation or system implementations.
