Main duties of the job




Working closely with the Head of Charity, you will play a

key role in bringing our bold three-year strategy to life

, helping us grow income across multiple streams and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of a fast-moving, high-impact charity.

You will work hand-in-hand with the Head of Charity to drive income across a

diverse mix of fundraising steams

, from community, events and individual giving to corporate partnerships and trusts. You will also be the

friendly, first point of contact for many of our supporters

, offering thoughtful stewardship, responding to enquiries, and making sure every donor feels appreciated and connected to the impact they are making.


As a key member of the team, you will

work closely and collaboratively with colleagues

including those in charity finance, our fund advisors and key stakeholders within the hospital senior leadership team. You'll stay on top of budgets to inform your fundraising decisions and grow a culture of income awareness across the Charity and Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities




Fundraising and Supporter Management



Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising and donation enquiries, offering exceptional supporter care that makes every donor feel valued and appreciated. Ensure every donation is recorded accurately, supporters are thanked promptly and queries are responded to with thoughtfulness and efficiency. Manage the events portfolio, including challenge events, supporter-led events, and third-party events, providing excellent stewardship to all participants. Support on the Charity's annual flagship abseil event with support from the wider team, to increase engagement and fundraising outcomes. Lead on the Charity's own events portfolio including staff pub quizzes, NHS birthday, Christmas events such as the 'Lighting Ceremony', bucket collections etc. Manage the community fundraising income stream, nurturing existing relationships and developing new partnerships to generate income. Work with the Head of Charity to secure new, longer-term corporate partnerships and manage relationships with smaller corporate supporters to grow fundraising potential. Manage and oversee the Charity's lottery programme, working with the Head of Charity to develop and implement a strategy to grow this income stream. Collaborate with the Grants and Fund Engagement Manager to support fund advisors in raising income for their Special Purpose Funds. Contribute to grant and trust applications, working closely with the Head of Charity and the Grants and Fund Engagement Manager.

Data and Financial Management




Support the development and implementation of a new CRM database, including data transfer and process creation. Ensure donor data is accurately recorded and maintained in line with relevant data protection legislation. Work closely with charity finance to ensure donations are appropriately coded and donation information is shared accurately. Maintain and update the fundraising budgets with support from Charity Finance. Develop and manage effective administrative systems to support fundraising and relationship management.

Monitoring and Reporting




Regularly report on fundraising activities, income and impact of key initiatives to the wider team and work with the Head of Charity to present information to the Charitable Funds Committee and Corporate Trustee Board.

Communications




Develop our web-based fundraising, website donation portal and systems including keeping our fundraising content up to date on our website. Create engaging content to market fundraising activities via social media, printed materials, and posters across our hospital sites. Develop new ways to raise the Charity's profile and convert supporters into active donors and fundraisers.

Compliance and Administration




Ensure all fundraising activity is keeping with the Fundraising Regulators Code of Fundraising Practice and is compliant with fundraising regulations. Work with the team to ensure a consistent and accurate log of gifts in kind. Collaborate with colleagues across the Charity and Trust, contributing experience and ideas to shared projects and goals.

Degree plus experience or formal qualification related to charity, fundraising or a related field Or Specialist experience above degree level related to charity or fundraising related field #

Essential criteria




Experience in a fundraising, charity or similar income-generating role. Proven track record of supporter/donor/volunteer stewardship. Experience planning and delivering successful events. Competent use of CRM or donor databases. Strong customer service skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Experience tracking income and expenditure. Experience of working towards income targets.

Desirable criteria




Experience producing content for fundraising campaigns across digital and print. NHS or healthcare sector experience #

Good understanding of fundraising principles and best practice. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to interpret data and use it to drive decisions.
