Croydon is the most populous London borough with 390,800 residents and the largest London population of children aged 0-19.

The local creative sector is diverse and includes a mixture of large venues like Fairfield Halls - which is also home to several creative companies - smaller arts centres and creative meanwhile spaces. There are six Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations across a range of disciplines (Stanley Arts, Talawa, ZooCo, Turf Projects, Boundless Theatre and Eye Music Trust) and a strong network of smaller arts organisations and volunteer groups artists and freelancers. Croydon is also home to a Creative Enterprise Zone, thirteen libraries, the Museum of Croydon and Croydon Archives which all contribute to the cultural life of the borough.

We are currently the London Borough of Culture and in the middle of delivering a big, bold celebration of the communities of Croydon. Our programme, This Is Croydon, is being delivered in partnership with the cultural sector through a large grant programme and devolved delivery model.

There is a small team within the Council managing the programme and this will be a key role in that team to help drive the success of the remaining events and enable we can meaningfully evaluate the year.

This role will ensure funded partners are on track with their projects and delivering against their grant agreements. It will work closely with the cultural sector to ensure opportunities to reach audiences with a high quality cultural programme are maximised.

The postholder will also oversee the programme evaluation including collation and analysis of quantitative data from audiences, artists, participants and delivery partners and commissioning and development of qualitative content.

This role will also act as secretariat for the Strategic Programme Board and manage relationships and reporting to key programme funders.

We are looking for someone with exceptional communication and relationship management skills and a strong track record of working with a range of cultural sector partners and different sizes of organisations. Experience of evaluating programmes and using different models of evaluation is also important and an understanding of Croydon and its communities is highly desirable. The work environment is fast paced and an ability to work efficiently and manage competing deadlines and demands is also essential.

This is a fixed term contract for the remaining duration of the London Borough of Culture programme (ending March 24) and the evaluation period after the final events, expected June 2024.
