To apply, you must have extensive experience in waste management and environmental enforcement and extensive knowledge of formal and informal enforcement procedures, including preparing case files and attending court. You must have experience with fixed penalty notices and appeal arbitrations. You must also have an extensive understanding of the Anti-social behaviour crime and Policing Act 2014, the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Role Responsibilities:

The role of a Senior Operations and Investigations officer involves working closely with the Law Enforcement manager to provide support to the Law Enforcement Team. You will also act as a deputy when the manager is not present. Your responsibilities will include implementing interventions across all areas and ensuring all services are delivered to the highest standards. Collaboration and partnership work is vital to this role, and you will be responsible for monitoring all aspects of service delivery, identifying areas for improvement, and introducing further efficiencies to ensure effective service delivery.

As a Senior Operations and Investigations officer, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of services that improve the quality of life for our residents. The Senior Operations and Investigations officer will use various tools and powers to address anti-social behaviour and environmental issues in the borough. You will be responsible for designing and leading educational and enforcement projects and managing the performance of the Council\'s commercial waste enforcement contractor.

This job requires innovative solutions to complex and legislative issues. You will respond to customer, resident, MP, and member enquiries and complaints via casework. You will work with eight seniors to conduct investigations and inspections and design initiatives to deter anti-social behaviour and reduce environmental crime. You will ensure all service requests are resolved promptly. You will also support officers in guiding, triaging, and resolving complex issues, liaising with internal and external partners to establish new processes or amend existing ones. You will oversee all back office functions, including the FPN appeals process, and develop new working practices to ensure efficient and effective service delivery 24 hours a day

This job requires you to take a leading role when working on local initiatives and forge links with internal and external partners such as Police, outreach teams, and contractors.

Role Specific Qualifications:

  • Possession of current and valid Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) certificate is welcome. If not held CSAS security checks (NVVP2) will be undertaken and the passing CSAS will be required during the first six months of probation period. Current and valid CSAS is a condition of continued Employment.
  • Full current manual driving license (provisional driving licences will not be accepted).
