Job Description

Location:

Mortimer (office based)

Salary:

34,000 - 38,000 DOE, with scope for growth

Hours:

Full-time, permanent

We are a growing organisation in the education/children's services sector, seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join our team as we continue to expand.

This role will suit someone who has worked in an Ofsted-regulated environment (such as education, care, or children's services) and is experienced in ensuring HR practices are compliant with both employment law and safeguarding requirements, working alongside safeguarding leads and legal experts where needed.

You will work alongside our Junior HR Advisor to manage day-to-day employee relations, taking the lead on more complex cases. We're looking for someone confident in handling these matters with minimal support, while maintaining a clear awareness of when to escalate or seek input from the HR Manager or safeguarding leads.

We're looking for someone warm, approachable, and professional -- someone who can build trust quickly, while maintaining clear boundaries and ensuring safe, compliant practice.

What you'll be doing

Managing a varied workload of both proactive projects and reactive day-to-day issues. Taking ownership of complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, performance). Supporting managers to make confident, legally sound, and safeguarding-compliant decisions. Knowing when to seek legal advice or escalate issues appropriately. Reviewing and improving HR policies and processes to reflect best practice. Contributing to wider HR projects around engagement, wellbeing, and workforce planning.

About you

You have

solid HR experience

(rather than just qualifications), ideally within an

. You're confident in handling complex ER issues independently, but also recognise when to seek guidance or escalate appropriately. You are detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills. You're warm and approachable with strong professional boundaries, able to build trust across all levels. You don't need to know everything, but you know when and how to check, seek advice, or escalate.

What we offer

Competitive salary of 34,000 - 38,000 DOE, with scope to grow in our rapidly expanding organisation Friendly office-based team and free lunches Professional development opportunities within a rapidly expanding business A supportive HR team, with oversight from the HR Manager but the autonomy to make this role your own Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, life insurance, car scheme, free holiday accommodation, various discounts etc
