The salary is broken down as 50,531 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 55,103. Plus, a location allowance of 1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of 1,000.

Job Summary
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) relies on a wide range of technologies. As a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will support the Infrastructure services that underpin CTP operations to keep the country safe.
This role is aligned to the
Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer
role set out within the Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework (DDAT).
You will join a team of Infrastructure Operations Engineers, located east of Birmingham, with easy access to the M6 and M42. This is a fantastic opportunity to assist in working within a world class Platform Services Team, providing technical support for the network, from 7am to 7pm on weekdays. Compressed shift patterns are available allowing a 4-day working week. You'll also join an on-call rota, providing critical support, 24/7/365.
At this role level, you will:
Work with a ticketing system to action service requests, incidents, and changes to the infrastructure platforms.
Adhere to best practices for infrastructure technologies.
Work within a service management tool working through ticket workloads to SLA (Service Level Agreement) priority.
You will work on a variety of platforms and tools so having the ability to quickly learn technical skills are key to your success.
The ideal candidate will have:
A background in platform infrastructure support or cloud platforms.
The Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer will be part of an Agile service delivery team.
The Platform Services team is a key component of Counter Terrorism Police's IT strategy which operational activities depend on.
Key Tasks
As a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will:
Manage the operation of the Infrastructure Platforms
Provide technical support for National infrastructure relating to business as usual (BAU) and projects to ensure objectives are being met in line with CTP priorities.
Ensure personal workload is effectively managed, prioritised and issues are escalated to line management, as necessary.
Ensure adherence to required polices, standards, controls, and best practice.
Create and utilise technical documentation to ensure all services are maintained and knowledge is shared.
Proactively monitor infrastructure environments to help prevent issues arising
Help drive continuous improvement across platforms to ensure security and reliability
Ensure security procedures are followed, to comply with the relevant accreditation, procedures and/or guidance
Deputise for Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineers as required.

Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process. Experience
The role requires existing experience as an infrastructure engineer in a technically diverse environment. The role holder should demonstrate:
Experience across technical disciplines and a desire to continue to learn and develop
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simply communicate verbally or in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to prioritise, execute tasks and achieve results in a busy service operations environment
Full UK driving license required with no more than 3 points.

Experience of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SCCM
Experience of container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
Experience of Windows Server, Linux and Desktop operating systems
Experience of Broadcom's VMware vSphere suite of products
Experience of Server and infrastructure monitoring and automation tools
Experience of network and communication technologies including routing, switching, VOIP and/or video conferencing (Cisco preferred)
Experience of routing protocols
Experience of security and/or firewall devices
Experience of infrastructure design and documentation

Experience of converged infrastructure and virtualisation

Experience of security hardening and best practice
Experience of PKI / certificates and encryption technologies
Experience of backup technologies, failover testing, resilience methodology
Experience of working within an ITIL service environment working to defined metrics and SLAs
Experience with network and security devices
Operational knowledge and experience of working with service desk call management systems
Preferred ITIL V4 Foundation certified
Formal certifications with any infrastructure providers
Knowledge of NCSC/NIST ICT (Information and Communications Technology) security best practices
Understanding of automation and scripting in a relevant language
