Job Description

This is an exciting time to join the University of St Andrews Libraries & Museums on a fixed-term basis as a Senior Library Assistant (Metadata Projects) and help to support the effective implementation of the Unit's strategic plan 2024-2029. Key themes include developing a continuous improvement approach to the design of core services and ensuring long-term sustainability for collection development and stewardship. The successful candidate will be based in the Metadata Team and will play an active part in achieving these broader goals, as well as helping to deliver on key projects including St Andrews' participation in the UK Print Book Collection. This role will also support the development and integration of digital workflows, automation, and AI tools to enhance metadata processes and service delivery.



All team members are expected to take a flexible and positive approach to their work. While the role primarily sits within the Library Collections Team, the postholder will also undertake a variety of tasks across the wider Library Collections and Digital Services Directorate as needed.


We are seeking to appoint a highly organised, methodical team player to contribute to the creation and editing of the metadata used to describe Libraries and Museums' resources, ensuring they are accessible and discoverable to our users.


The successful candidate will have a good general education to Scottish Higher Level or equivalent, have experience of creating, using and analysing data in a working environment, be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail over prolonged periods as well as experience of working on projects.



This is a full-time fixed-term post until 31st July 2026, starting as soon as possible.
