WSP Architectural Lighting team are seeking to reinforce creative lighting design business. The successful candidate will work with a design team on the delivery architectural and specialist lighting projects, both in UK and Internationally and to support growth within various lighting sectors. Our team is diverse delivering projects across all business areas, through both public and private sector clients. Some examples of our commercial and rail projects include High Speed 2, HS2 Curzon Street Station, Paddington Crossrail Station, Loreal HQ and HSBC offices.

The candidates\xe2\x80\x99 key role will be day-to-day lighting design and lead projects, with responsibility for all aspects of design, performance, and delivery. The candidate will have a proven track record of project and team management, business development and delivering lighting design projects successfully, both in a commercial and technical context. The successful candidate will support the capability lead in growth and support of the architectural business and seeking new opportunities. Your new role, what\'s involved?

  • Experience leading design teams and taking responsibility for the technical output, delivery programme and financial performance of their work packages.
  • In collaboration with the capability lead and team leaders, setting strategic direction, including definition of future and key performance metrics.
  • Mentoring and developing staff members. Imparting knowledge through teaching, this will involve coaching junior staff toward setting their own development targets in coordination with their line managers.
  • Able to demonstrate commercial acumen and experience in all aspects of proposal preparation including initial costings at bid stage, tender preparation, RIBA stage design fee proposals and contract awareness.
  • Delivering lighting design projects of a world class quality. It is expected that the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery including commissioning and client handover
  • Build and maintain an industry presence. This will include internal and external networking.
  • Fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and collegiality within the team. Our culture is a key aspect of our identity. The candidate will have energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the role.
We\'d love to hear from you if you have:
  • Degree in relevant field (lighting design, engineering, architecture) or equivalent experience
  • Relevant industry qualification (IEng, CEng or equivalent) with appropriate awarding body (ILP, SLL, IALD, IET)
  • Proven experience in the successful delivery of lighting projects of all types.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of lighting design projects using complex technical methods and software.
  • Lighting design experience in transportation lighting projects is essential.
  • Effective communication, presentation, public speaking and writing skills.
  • Experience with leading a project with a team of lighting designers.
  • Experience in networking, business development and building relationships.
