We are seeking to recruit a

Senior Maintenance Technician (Mechanical, Multi-skilled)

for our site at Carrington.

Basell Polyolefins is a part of LyondellBasell, one of the worlds largest chemical companies, with sites in 32 countries worldwide. The Carrington site is located approximately 10 miles from the city of Manchester, England, and covers an area of 300 acres.

The site began operations in 1949, and today produces polypropylene resins used for a wide variety of products. Our polypropylene plant produces resins for use in carpet fibers, ropes and textiles, molded products such as food containers, crates, chairs, car components and film for many packaging applications

The purpose of the role is to facilitate and safely execute all aspects of plant maintenance at minimal cost, optimising the use of the departmental resources to achieve reliability targets whilst ensuring work is completed in a time frame to meet with plant production schedules. Capability to co-ordinate multiple tasks within a multi-discipline working environment is required.

Roles & Responsibilities

Work with a minimum of supervision as a member of the site maintenance team to provide routine and emergency hands-on asset maintenance across the entire site. Ensure safe working practices and site safety rules and procedures are adhered to by self and others in the work team. Follows best practice craft and safety practice at all times. Set and work to schedules of preventive maintenance, corrective repairs and improvement activities within the requirements of the maintenance scheduling process. Work to a high standard of housekeeping and hygiene to ensure that the plant is maintained in a clean, tidy, safe, and healthy condition.
Work as a multi-skilled Craftsperson primarily in the Jobholder's prime craft but able to carry out any of the duties of other Crafts as/when competence is proven.
Can perform the full range of complex mechanical plant maintenance tasks including: machinery removal, replacement, installation and overhaul, pipefitting, rigging & lifting, mechanical troubleshooting & can perform non-complex tasks electrical / instrument tasks Help prepare Pre-Task Risk Assessments for future task events. Use SAP Maintenance system to manage notifications and work orders, record work and book hours, identify technical information, order engineering maintenance spares etc. Detect and repair faults in production machinery in all plant areas to eliminate or minimise production downtime. To order correct equipment and spares to ensure that this can be achieved. Contribute to reviews of plant performance and contribute ideas for performance improvements to maximise operational efficiency and minimise costs.

Person Specification

Education:


C&G, HNC or equivalent in craft skills relevant to Mechanical core craft.

Work Experience:


Minimum 5 years' Chemical Plant experience (Hazardous chemicals, plant and equipment experience.)

Skills / Knowledge:


IT Literate, specifically with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and Microsoft. Some specialist knowledge e.g. PLC programming, condition monitoring, critical joint assembly etc. Knowledge of Maintenance Management process & principles. Knowledge of principles of Risk Assessment and Method Statements.

Languages:


Must be fluent in written and verbal English.

We offer an attractive compensation package, which includes an salary package of circa 55,000 gross per annum, plus a non-pensionable disturbance allowance once qualified, and participation in the Company's discretionary short-term incentive (bonus) programme. Currently, the full-year target bonus for this position is 6% of base salary.



The holiday entitlement is 25 days/annum plus bank holidays and we offer membership of the Company Defined Contribution Salary Sacrifice Pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 10% matching double employee contributions. We also offer Group Life & Income Protection insurances, a Health Cash Plan and a Cycle to Work Scheme.
