The role of the senior manager, academic quality is to develop and manage Francis James' academic quality assurance systems and processes. The senior manager will take a leading role in ensuring high standards are established and maintained, with a particular focus on assessment and the performance of assessors. Responsibilities
Work with the Academic Director to develop, implement and manage Francis James' academic quality assurance systems and processes
Ensure ongoing compliance with internal policy, and external regulatory and other requirements. This may include: reviewing assessment methods and monitoring assessor performance; managing standardisation and moderation; engagement with external examiners; data collection and submissions.
Chair and/or minute quality assurance meetings as appropriate.
Engage with, and organise, external quality assurance visits.
Manage an escalation process for quality-related concerns and issues.
Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance systems and processes, providing proactive support and guidance across the team at Francis James.
Maintain a strong awareness of current and upcoming regulatory and/or statutory requirements.

Person Specification
Essential knowledge/experience
Knowledge of higher education sector frameworks and regulations
A thorough understanding, developed through experience, of managing academic quality assurance processes and systems
Excellent organisational, IT and communication skills
Demonstrable experience of delivering to tight deadlines within resource constraints
Ability to solve problems, working autonomously with initiative when needed
Substantial experience of building and maintaining relationships with staff at all levels
Desirable knowledge/experience
Knowledge and experience of the construction industry
Experience of representing institutions during external scrutiny, including preparing for and facilitating reviews and monitoring
Experience of governance frameworks in which universities typically operate
