Deloitte is currently seeking an AI Counsel to advise on technology matters and assist with UK AI Service Delivery on the transformation agenda within Deloitte UK. This person will help Deloitte innovate and deploy new technologies while managing legal and regulatory risks and compliance, serving both internal and external clients.


The AI Counsel will work within Deloitte's Quality, Risk and Security community. The Quality, Risk and Security (QRS) community is an overarching identity for all the professionals who manage quality and risk for Deloitte. Within QRS, the AI Counsel will use their skills and experience to support a risk intelligent culture at Deloitte, enabling Deloitte's partners and practitioners to deliver high quality services to their clients, minimizing the administrative burden on Deloitte's people, and acting as custodians of firm risk, security, ethics and reputation.

The AI Counsel will provide legal advice, counsel and support on compliance with technology regulations (including AI and other emerging technologies), development of Deloitte technology products and platforms, and software and data licensing and other commercial contracting arrangements.

The AI Counsel will be expected to assess and understand how business risks can be managed and mitigated, while advising on deal structure and strategy. The role is strategic, innovative and includes the following broad range of responsibilities:

Providing guidance to technology teams and business leaders on the privacy, confidentiality, IP, regulatory compliance, and other legal risks associated with development, operation, and implementation of technology products, platforms, systems and innovations. Reviewing products and features of technology products and platforms, identifying legal risks, and developing practical mitigation strategies focused on business goals Reviewing open source software and language models and determine whether they are appropriate for use within Deloitte Reviewing and analysing technology regulations (including related to AI) and creating plans to operationalise them Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating licenses; terms of use; policies, disclosures and other documentation associated with use and deployment of Deloitte and third-party technology products Reviewing and negotiating software and data licensing and other commercial agreements with vendors Developing legal and risk policies and guardrails, including for use of vendor products and services Developing and maintaining FAQs, templates, policies and processes to create efficiencies and scale within the wider team Engaging and managing outside counsel, as requested Responding promptly to a wide range of legal requests from engineering and product development teams and other risk professionals, driving transformation and change; Familiarity with AI technology and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels across Deloitte's Global network, navigating a large organisation.

Personal independence



Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
