About the role:
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Manager, Risk. The role oversees LifeArc's risk management and insurance, and provides support to the Internal Audit team, coordinating and tracking the agreed Internal Audit actions.
Success in this role means that you will:
Maintain a complete and effective risk management framework across the company
Embed a culture of risk management across the organisation through effective business partnering
Provide input to setting risk appetite
Support an outsourced Internal Audit model to ensure successful implementation of the outsourced providers assurance program
Manage the Insurance cover
Track the completion of Internal Audit actions
About you:
Responsibilities are to:
Ensure a robust and effective risk management system is in place which is aligned to the LifeArc strategy
Partner with all functions to ensure that risk is managed at all levels of the organisation and is seen as an enabler to deliver LifeArc's strategy
Provide input to Senior Management and Executive team highlighting progress, and areas of concern, with recommendations to drive corrective action
Monitor the internal control environment at LifeArc to proactively identify gaps and areas of risk
Work with functions to recommend improvements to controls where necessary
Assist on new projects, including ensuring that adequate controls are put in place
Support an outsourced internal audit model and work in partnership with the provider to help them develop and implement a fit for purpose, efficient and value adding assurance program. This will include maintaining an assurance universe, providing input to the audit plan and working with both internal stakeholders and the outsourced provider to enable high quality audits
Work with functional areas to drive remediation of internal audit recommendations
Manage business continuity planning across LifeArc ensuring the plan is current and fit for purpose including training, testing and stakeholder buy in
Monitor LifeArc's insurance provision and lead the negotiation/renewal of insurance policies ensuring that the level and scope of cover is appropriate for LifeArc's needs for the following year
Lead significant new projects as required
Manage competing priorities whilst balancing needs of department, function and company
Maintain own technical competence within role including strong understanding of both the internal and external landscape
Education & experience required:
Essential:
Successful track record and relevant experience in risk management
Evidence of excellent relationship management and business partnering skills with key intermediaries
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and creatively
Strong project management skills
Enthusiastic advocate of risk management
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Bachelor's Degree
Desirable:
Experience of a research function within the Pharma/Biotech/Life Science sector
