Senior Manager, Taxation - GBM Finance

Position Overview:




Contributes to the overall success of the Tax Department in Europe ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You'll Do:



To act as country head for taxation in the UK. Lead as subject matter expert to advise and inform senior executives and front office staff of the tax implications of specific transactions or business proposals. Accountable for leading tax planning initiatives in Bank of Nova Scotia London Branch (BNSL) and Scotiabank ( Ireland ) DAC ( SIDAC). To take responsibility for wider European tax issues and initiatives working in conjunction with the Tax Director, GBM Europe and the UK tax team. Responsible for leading the European tax function in the absence of the Tax Director. Implement efficient processes to support continuous improvement of processes & reporting. Provide support, expertise, and advice across a wide range of strategic and new business initiatives and support the impact assessments of regulatory changes.

What You'll Bring:



University Degree and/or Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) and/or other relevant Financial Management/Accounting. Solid experience relevant to the role. Solid technical knowledge of CRR and CRD, local regulatory guidance and in particular statistical aspects of regulatory reporting. Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure, manage tight deadlines and able to proactively manage the competing demands of differing stakeholders.


The role has been identified as a Central Bank of Ireland prescribed Controlled Function. The incumbent is therefore required to have the relevant fitness and probity to carry out the role and responsibilities in such a manner that the incumbent can comply with the Central Bank of Ireland 2011 Fitness & Probity Standards, as applicable to the role. In general, the Fitness & Probity Standards require the role holder to:


(a) be competent and capable;


(b) act honestly, ethically and with integrity; and


(c) be financially sound.
