Your Role

A Senior Material Planner plays a key role in coordinating and managing the call off process for materials or services needed by an organization. They oversee a team of material planners and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient procurement and delivery of goods or services. The Senior Material Planner is responsible for strategic decision-making, process improvement, and optimizing the call off process to meet organizational objectives.

Your Responsibilities

  • Call Off Planning Strategy: Develop and execute strategic call off planning initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Analyze demand patterns, production schedules, and inventory levels to establish a comprehensive call off strategy that ensures timely availability of materials or services.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of material planners, providing guidance, training, and support. Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Support Procurement team and Operations function with timely and accurate call off activities to ensure raw materials, packaging and other items required to ensure the efficient running of production operations are available when required.
  • Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers to establish strong relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and drive supplier performance improvements. Ensure timely and accurate communication of call off requirements to suppliers and monitor delivery schedules to meet production or project timelines.
  • Build sustainable internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Inventory Optimization: Work closely with inventory management teams to optimize stock levels and reduce excess inventory. Develop and implement strategies to minimize carrying costs while ensuring sufficient materials or services are available when needed.
  • Implement and maintain effective stock control systems and ensure their correct application. Minimise stock outs and maximise value to the business.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the call off planning process. Implement best practices, standard operating procedures, and advanced planning tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of the call off process.
  • Project Lead for SC materials.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including procurement, production, logistics, and project management teams, to align call off planning activities with overall operational requirements. Ensure effective communication, coordination, and timely resolution of any issues or bottlenecks.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the performance of the call off planning process. Generate reports and provide insights to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Set up reports for raw material stocks and forecasts and communicate them within the organization.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to material or service availability, supplier performance, or other factors that could impact the call off process. Develop contingency plans, conduct risk assessments, and establish solutions to ensure business continuity.
Your Profile
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Advanced degree or relevant certifications (such as APICS) is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience in raw material planning and call-offs, procurement, or supply chain management, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of call off planners.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in using supply chain management software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and advanced data analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Experience in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and driving supplier performance improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive cross-functional initiatives, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen, with a solid understanding of financial implications and cost considerations.
  • Knowledge of call off planning methodologies, inventory management techniques, and supply chain best practices.
