An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking, dynamic and pro-active Midwifery Ward Manager on Ward 314/315 - Maternity Ward on the Royal Derby Hospital site.
We are a a large progressive maternity service which embraces innovation and strives to deliver exceptional care together in partnership with women, families and external stakeholders.
You must have a passion for providing excellent midwifery care and can provide leadership and motivation for a busy team of Midwives and Support Workers. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing Senior Midwife, to manage a 61 bedded mixed antenatal/postnatal and transitional care ward.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain an effective and coordinated approach to ward management by both Senior Midwives. The successful candidate will have an individual portfolio with an initial remit for postnatal care. They will have an exciting opportunity to develop the ward area to improve the services for the women and their babies.
Main duties of the job
As a senior midwife you will take overall responsibility and accountability in ensuring women, babies and families receive safe, clinically effective, women centred care across the whole maternity care pathway. You will lead by example, offer expert midwifery clinical advice, operationally support and manage teams and services ensuring the delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate midwifery care.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver care to women and babies within acute clinical environments whose needs are complex. You will work flexibly across the service in supporting the delivery of midwifery care, using a range of service models, including continuity of carer.
Senior midwives provide expert clinical and professional midwifery leadership and are accountable for the women, babies, public and staff experience. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.
