Job Description

You must be able to commit to 39 hours per week over an 8 week rota.

To support the Home Manager in delivering high-quality, person centred care within the residential care home. The Senior Care Worker will lead, motivate and supervise the care team to ensure residents needs are met with compassion, dignity and respect while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and organisational standards.

To co-ordinate and supervise the day/night care team under the direction of the management team. To be familiar with and promote the philosophy, Christian ethos, aims and objectives of the Joseph Cox Charity, ensuring the unique character and excellent reputation is maintained. To support the management team to promote positive outcomes in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) To share with the management team in developing ideas, initiatives, and practices To promote with the Management team a quality monitoring process To ensure that Mary and Joseph Policies and Procedures, relevant legislation and Registration requirements are complied with and to raise concerns with the Manager. To be involved in the implementation and on-going review of Policies and Procedures and Quality Assurance procedures. To recognise Mary and Joseph House is a home for 41 men, with their own problems, a Christian place, where the ethos of the Joseph Cox Charity is maintained, and the unique character of the house is promoted.
To share accountability with the Management team for

Providing person centred care Safe storage and administration of all medication Quality and safe working practice Safe keeping and distribution of resident's personal money and valuables Petty cash
Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Supervision



Lead and support care workers on shift, ensuring all duties are completed to high standard. In the absence of the Assistant Manager take full responsibility for the staff and residents. Be a good role model and lead by example, always promoting best working practice working to provide Dignity in Care. Delegate tasks to care team as per the day/night register. Provide guidance, mentoring and on the job training for staff. Conduct shift handovers and communicate effectively with other team members. Assist with staff performance monitoring and report concerns to management. Be professional, kind, caring and friendly, able to interact with residents, visitors, health professionals and staff. Take responsibility for own professional development and to keep professionally updated. To maintain the desired standards of behaviour, dress and general appearance in accordance with the role and to ensure all members of staff adhere to these practices. Be available to share on-call duties and cover shifts at short notice as required. Be responsible for reconciling the petty cash and cigarette count. Uphold and promote equality, diversity and inclusion. Always maintain confidentiality and the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in accordance with the agreed policy. Undertake any other duties as seen necessary by the Management Team.

2. Care of Residents



To always treat residents with dignity and respect. Flexible and self-motivated, tolerant, and enthusiastic. To collaborate with the Manager/Assistant Managers in promoting, monitoring and reviewing the range of services, including a therapeutic service, within Mary and Joseph House to meet the assessed needs of the residents. To ensure that all individual Care Plans are established and updated regularly. To be involved in monitoring all services to ensure agreed Care Packages are provided to each resident. To be aware of all aspects of the day-to-day care of the residents. To promote oral health within the home, ensuring residents are supported to maintain and improve their oral health, following NICE oral health guidelines, making oral health a key part of the holistic care offered at the home. Responsible for encouraging colleagues to support oral hygiene daily To help maintain a supportive, homely environment in a comfortable, warm, and friendly atmosphere, considering residents' wishes and needs To have good communication and personal contact with Residents, relatives, visitors, and all agencies involved with the care of the residents. To keep and maintain all appropriate records, reports and statistical information on Residents and services in a professional format and manner. Deliver and oversee high-quality personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, mobility and eating. Promote independence, dignity and choice for all the residents. Support residents emotional, physical and social wellbeing through daily interactions and activities. Observe and report any changes in residents' health or behaviour to management or healthcare professionals.
