The role

We\'re looking for a Senior Operations Manager to join our Logistics team based in Shaw, Oldham

Within this role you\'ll support the delivery of the logistics operational strategy and annual business plans. You\'ll be responsible for the effective management of all operational processes from receipt through to dispatch, resource, and people within all logistics sites. You will also provide an excellent customer experience for all internal and external customers within agreed objectives and SLA\'s. You will drive a culture that strives for continual improve but also learns from its mistakes but is willing to listen and support and nurture development and capability at all levels. You\'ll be passionate about working to an excellent standard and look for improvements each time the activity is started again. You\'ll be an integral part of the team but always work as a team to drive results.

Please note: You will be working 4 on 4 off, 2pm to 01.30am, with varying shifts off peak. Managing a team who in turn manage 200+ Colleagues

What will you do as a Senior Operations Manager at N Brown?
  • You\'ll manage and/or provide day-to-day leadership to Operations managers across days and evenings at an appropriate level to ensure the delivery of the overall operational metric and targets.
  • You\'ll lead, performance manage and develop the operational talent pool by optimising the skills of the existing team, succession planning to ensure key roles are filled and individual talent is recognised. You\'ll recruit external if internal capability is not present and continue to nurture the teams\' overall capabilities with continued improvement driving the team.
  • You\'ll deliver a team that work across multiple shifts (6am to 1.30am) 7 days a week (including bank holidays) to ensure business and brand objectives are met through effective capacity management, but with strong team dynamics across the board.
  • Deliver the operational annual payroll budget and other budgeted responsibilities including clear reporting updates and action plan to enable continued achievement / Improvements.
  • You\'ll achieve all production, compliance targets and SLA\'s ensuring the most cost-effective use of resource and services across all shifts and sites.
  • You\'ll continually review all processes, application and implement new ideas, technology, and systems to ensure the logistics operation is efficient and flexible to meet our customer demands.
  • You\'ll deliver and support the operational excellence program Lean techniques and a strong project management methodology to drive change through a continuous improvement culture.
  • You\'ll actively support the company values and behaviours program throughout the logistics division and drive an Inclusive culture.
  • You\'ll deliver high standards relating to Health & Safety including housekeeping requirements to ensure a safe and clean environment for all staff and visitors across both Logistics sites.
  • You\'ll work with internal and external partners to cultivate and drive a health and safety culture which continually reviews feedback and engages at all levels to minimise accidents / Incidents through a proactive culture.
  • You\'ll support the industrial relations with on-site trade unions. To ensure our people are treated equally, fairly and behave in the most appropriate manner. (Build the relationship and the culture from all levels.)
  • Any other duties required by the line manager that are appropriate with the post, grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
What skills and experience will you have?
  • A proven track record of management within warehousing and distribution ideally a 3PL background.
  • You\'ll have circa 5 years plus experience and managed a large team in a complex automated operation. Also an ecommerce background in a fast-paced operation.
  • Forward Thinking - Takes personal ownership for effectively analysing problems and creating solutions with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Teamwork - Develop and maintain sound working relationships with and between all departments to maximise the service we provide our customers but also financially astute to ensure delivery of results are within Budget spend limits.
  • Communication - Demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
  • Commercial Awareness - Have a thorough understanding of all logistics departments and where this fits in the organisation. Recognises the most effective ways to achieve the best overall customer experience.
  • Financial Acumen - Analysis financial reports and identify areas for improvement.
  • People Development - To ensure colleagues are multi skilled across at least 3 departments, skill sets are appropriate and development needs are identified and actioned where performance is not within set guidelines.
