The Role




As a Senior Packaging Operative you will report to our Packaging Manager. You will support our brewery production by keeping the packaging operations flowing smoothly and properly, helping out with a wide range of tasks, which will vary from day-to-day and including computer based jobs such as reporting packaging numbers and stock control. Adhering to a quality control system, standard operating procedures and hygiene standards will be a key focus for this position. You will process raw materials, packaging materials and chemicals.


You will lead the packaging shift outlined by the Packaging Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and procedures are followed correctly.


You will be expected to work within the team packaging beer into cans, kegs and casks. You will also be expected to conduct regular intensive cleans of the equipment using industrial cleaning agents.

Key Responsibilities




Specific duties include (but are not limited to):


Set up duties:

Setting up all packaging machines Preparing packaging materials Maintaining clean and clear working areas Preparing ancillary materials and equipment Communicating with the cellar team to ensure beers are ready to be handover Perform necessary pre packaging checks
Shift packaging duties:

Operating the packaging machines Perform all necessary packaging checks during production Constantly monitor beer quality throughout the packaging process Report utilization KPIs and downtimes Filling and stacking kegs Loading cans into the de-palletiser Filling and stacking boxes

Completing the post-shift clean-down duties:

Labelling and putting away beer, ancillary materials and equipment Clearing and rinsing down the canning line and production floor Clearing and cleaning all packaging areas and other areas used during the day in production Counting packaged stock and calculate efficiencies Inputting daily packaging data into our brewery software and report to wider team Set up and conduct CIPs

Additional Duties:

Abiding by a HACCP system to maintain standards of Food Safety and Food Quality Following and maintaining the use of standard operating procedures - unless otherwise instructed - to meet quality specifications and ensure proper packaging operations Abiding by a Quality Management system, whereby all beers are tested against various specifications throughout production Completing paperwork accurately and on time, to ensure traceability of materials and products are captured throughout the beer journey Operation, cleaning and maintenance of packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner Manual handling including lifting and carrying kegs and cask, packs of beers, materials and supplies. Maintaining the cleanliness of various areas of the Brewery Abiding by a stock control system Supporting the teams throughout the business as required, including Cellar, Production, Warehouse and Distribution teams Daily warehouse/production jobs as needed All production and warehouse staff have a responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others in what can be a hazardous industrial environment To work with the packaging manager to develop new and existing procedures and documents. Assisting the Packaging manger in training new staff


About You



Able to communicate effectively with the team and other departments Ability to work well in a team, both following instructions and working together to get the job done Excellent timekeeping skills and reliability Have a calm and professional manner, especially if schedules change Willing to embrace a demanding job that features repetitive tasks Great attention to detail, with high personal quality and cleaning standards Organised and efficient Proactive with a hands on approach Comfortable with computer based work, including working on spreadsheets in excel and using our brewery software with accuracy and attention to detail

Requirements

;

Proven experience in food and drink manufacturing environments. An understanding of word processing, spreadsheets and broader production software Ability to work independently and within a team

Desirable but not essential

:

HACCP level 2 in food manufacturing Forklift Qualification

Work environment;



The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud Temperatures may vary seasonally in work areas Packaging Operatives will be supplied with personal protective equipment and workwear that will be laundered externally once a week

Location:

Unit 11-15 City Business Park, Old Market Bristol

Hours

: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with rotating weekly early, core hours and late shifts, 6am-2pm, 8am-4pm and 10am-6pm.


Salary

: 27,330 - 29390 per annum, depending on packaging skills and knowledge.
