Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapy Technician. Please note we are unable to accept applications from new graduates or registered physiotherapists, this role is for an assistant level scope of practice.



This role involves independently managing a delegated caseload under the direction of registered physiotherapists. The post holders will need the ability to travel to multiple sites and have the use of a car for work purposes. You may be required to be across more than one base location throughout the week for a variety of clinics or groups which will include Serennu Children's Centre, Nevill Hall Children's Centre or Caerphilly Children's Centre. Many patients are also seen within mainstream or special schools to support their ALN (Additional Learning Needs) or within their homes where appropriate.



The roles are community based within children's centres, outpatients, leisure or plaster clinics, rebound or hydrotherapy sessions. You will therefore need to be highly flexible to the needs of the service and could be asked to cover anywhere within the Children's Physiotherapy service.



This is an exciting therapeutic hands-on role, which offers the opportunity to support patients with their treatment goals. We are looking for people to build on existing Band 3 therapy assistant, worker experience.



1.0 WTE - Serennu Children's Centre, Newport.



0.8 WTE - Nevill Hall Children's Centre, Abergavenny and Caerphilly Children's Centre.



The is a clinical role, supporting patients with exercise programmes and is highly physical. You will therefore need to be physically fit. Some non-clinical duties are also involved supporting clinicians with admin duties, booking patients, housekeeping/cleaning, ordering of equipment and patient statistics.



Good time management and prioritisation skills are very important for this role, as is the ability to work calmly under pressure.



You will need to display excellent communication skills, as the post involves direct patient contact, supporting parents and children, as well as the wider physiotherapy and administration teams and referrers.



The role directly supports patients receiving delegated treatment interventions which could be 1:1 or group based activities. This requires high levels of motivation to support patients to progress. You will be expected to lead on the organisation of your time and planning patient groups alongside the registered physiotherapist. You will be required to work at the appropriate level under the physiotherapy support worker clinical competency framework.



Documentation of accurate patient notes to an appropriate standard, and the ability to adapt and progress exercise programs independently is vital to this post.



The post holder will be expected to work towards the Agored Level 3 Diploma in Physiotherapy Support. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
