About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Policy Executive with responsibility for leading BMA Cymru Wales's policy and committee services functions.
This is a fixed term position for six months starting at the end of October 2025.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
The provision of strategic and expert policy advice and support across BMA Cymru Wales's representative structures
Leading a team of dedicated policy staff to support the delivery of quality and timely support to elected members across all secondary care committees and the medical students committee
Representing BMA Cymru Wales at senior level meetings - including in national contract, policy and pay talks
Working closely with counterparts across the UK
Managing relationships with external stakeholders
To succeed in this role, you will need to be adept at managing a busy workload with competing priorities. The role requires experience of policy development in a health, or health-related, context and the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior members and external partners or stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential - as is the ability to support, lead and manage a high functioning team that is responsible for a wide portfolio of policy and ongoing work areas.
Previous experience of working in a membership-based organisation would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be based in our Cardiff office where we operate a hybrid working arrangement (of two days per week based in the office and three days at home, around business need).
