THE ROLE
The Senior Quality Manager will be responsible for leading and strengthening the company's end-to-end quality management systems across product, packaging, manufacturing, and distribution. This role will ensure compliance with consumer-driven quality standards, relevant food safety requirements, including ingredient-regulation and labelling, and leads the resolution and prevention of quality issues across the business.
Working closely with the Chief Operations Officer (COO), wider Operations team and external partners, the Senior Quality Manager will own key quality processes, audits, compliance frameworks, and regulatory touchpoints to protect the brand, ensure consumer safety, and support international growth.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for the following:
Quality Management & Compliance
+ Own and manage the end-to-end process for handling and responding to consumer and retail complaints, ensuring timely resolution and root-cause analysis.
+ Lead investigations into quality incidents, driving effective Corrective And Preventive Actions (CAPA) across relevant teams and suppliers.
+ Own Product Quality & Safety Risk Assessment, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans, batch traceability systems, and manage incidents, and continuous improvement activities.
+ Manage all manufacturing-related quality complaints, tracking KPIs (key performance indicators) and working cross-functionally with the third-party manufacturers (3PMs), Operations Team and COO to drive accountability and resolution.
+ Own and coordinate onboarding of new 3PMs from a quality-perspective, lead certification audits of manufacturing partners where product is involved, ensuring audit readiness and closure of any non-conformances working with the ESG team to ensure we are meeting the business needs.
+ Support the logistics operations by overseeing product-specific requirements related to customs, POAO (Products of Animal Origin), and international trade regulations to ensure product and market access and the compliant movement of goods.
+ Support artwork teams to ensure accuracy and compliance of labelling Process & Systems Implementation.
+ Design and implement systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) where gaps exist in quality, regulatory, or audit processes.
+ Develop internal controls to ensure consistent application of quality and compliance standards across all suppliers and routes to market.
+ Work with the Production Planning team to maintain a systematic approach to documentation for traceability.
Collaboration and Communication
+ Work closely with internal teams including Operations, Nutrition and Innovation to embed quality requirements into new product development, labelling & artwork, and ongoing operations.
+ Ensure timely and accurate communication of quality performance, incidents, and resolutions to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)
+ Support the company's B-Corp accreditation by maintaining and improving quality and compliance processes that contribute to ESG standards, including product traceability, responsible sourcing, supplier certifications, and documentation of improvement initiatives.
+ Ensure that all product, packaging, and manufacturing practices align with the business's ESG commitments and sustainability objectives.
+ When required, assist in preparing ESG-related documentation and evidence for B-Corp assessments, audits, and re-certification processes.
WHO YOU ARE
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills / knowledge / experience:
+ Extensive experience in quality management and assurance within food, wellness, or consumer goods sectors, including experience with manufacturing, warehousing and transport.
+ Strong understanding of HACCP, food safety standards, and international compliance requirements (e.g. labelling, customs, POAO).
+ Proven ability to lead incident investigations, audits, and CAPA processes across internal and external partners.
+ Experience achieving and maintaining certifications via recognised audit-bodies (e.g. ISO, Soil Association, etc.)
+ Experience managing third-party manufacturers and navigating multi-country regulatory environments.
+ Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a track record of building or improving quality systems and SOPs.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both internally and externally.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus on continuous improvement.

Our Interview Process and What You Can Expect:

Application Review:
We'll start by reviewing your CV/application to ensure it's a good fit for the role.

Initial Phone Call (circa 15-20 minutes):
You'll have a brief introductory chat with Ellie, our Talent Partner. We'll discuss your experience, your career aspirations and explore how your values align with ours.

Video Interview (circa 30 minutes):
The next step is a virtual interview with the hiring manager, via Google Meet. This will be an introductory conversation featuring experience-based and competency-based questions. It's also a great time to ask any initial questions you have!

Interview Task:
You'll receive a task via email which you can prepare at home. This will form part of the discussion for the in-person interview. This will allow us to get a better understanding of your experience, skills and ways of working.

In-Person Interview (60-90 minutes):
The final stage is an in-person interview at our Uckfield office. You'll meet with the hiring manager and one other team member and present your interview task and answer competency questions. This is also your opportunity to ask us any remaining questions.

+ This role requires full time working at our stunning Uckfield offices. Please apply only if you're within a reasonable commute to East Sussex. There will be an option to work from home one day per week after successful completion of your probationary period.
