R&D is the centre of all lens design, material and process development within CooperVision leading to the creation of new product and process opportunities for the business.


Job summary - What to expect:



As a Senior R&D Technician you will be working within the UK R&D Pilot Line Operations team supporting product and process design and development activities. This person will be involved with the planning, manufacture and testing of contact lens products to support Concept Feasibility and Design Control activities. You will support timely and compliant release and shipment of samples to internal and external sites globally.


The role involves a combination of hands on equipment usage and product fabrication along with the preparation of supporting documentation, quality compliance and the gathering, presentation and analysis of data.


Essential responsibilities:



Devise and lead trials using various pieces of contact lens manufacturing or fabrication equipment and materials Organise work load and process flow to ensure timely and compliant delivery, including liaison with project leads etc Manufacture contact lenses for clinical evaluation Use metrology equipment to measure and analyse contact lenses Lead the release and shipment of product for invitro and clinical studies Writing of trial protocols and validations. Executing Installation and Operational qualification testing. Recording and presenting data accurately, including concise presentation to R&D colleagues and leaders Analysing data and drawing objective conclusions Writing documentation to support regulatory compliance, work instructions or SOP's for example Support manufacturing by providing lens processing resource or specialist techniques or methods To assist with the introduction of new equipment and products to production including initial set-up and assistance during the development phase. To co-operate with other departments during projects to ensure the project goals are achieved. Accuracy of data, reliability of data and clear written presentation Support Maintenance Engineer with maintenance and upkeep of production equipment Investigating quality issues and pushing continuous improvements

About you:



We are looking for someone with the following experience:


Proven experience within a high or medium volume manufacturing environment as a Process Technician / Operator level. Contact Lens manufacturing, testing and inspection procedures would be desirable Good level of Administrative capabilities Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices Computer literacy

It would be advantageous if you have manufacturing knowledge in the following areas:


Mould metrology State of the art Metrology QC2 measurement Lens sectioning Focimetry Lens Inspection Injection Moulding Demoulding techniques Extraction and Hydration techniques Blister sealing techniques Sterilisation techniques
