Within our Residential Children's Home, you will be expected to manage and lead a team of Residential Support Workers. You will be able to communicate the company's goals, safety practices, concerns, policies and deadlines to the staffing team and the children and young people. Motivate staffing team, assess performance. Provide help and assistance to the Registered Manager and Director, including hiring and training. Ensure Registered Manager is updated on the staffing team's performance.
Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the rota is covered, being part of the On-Call rota. Finalise Reports which are created by Residential Support Workers for each child and young person before sending them through to the Registered Manager. Deal with complaints from children and young people, staff, neighbours, and professionals. Monitor the cleanliness of the property and health and safety to comply with Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Regulations.
Work as a team and pass-through direct feedback and any changes to the Registered Manager. Organise and chair monthly Team Meetings alongside the Registered Manager. Ensure Social Care and Registered Manager is updated on any changes in behaviours or safeguarding concerns for each child or young person. Work alongside a range of professionals such as Education, Health, Independent Visitor, Ofsted and Social Care,
Main Purpose
To ensure the safeguarding of all children and young people, have excellent negotiation skills and an ability to handle sensitive issues.
To adhere to Connections 2 Independence Policies and Procedures.
Have a clear understanding of PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) approach and apply this to everyday practise.
Monitor Handovers, ensure follow ups are concluded and actioned.
First point of call for support and daily living needs for staff, visitors, professionals, children and young people.
Answer all incoming calls and emails pass through to the relevant persons.
To participate in regular individual supervisions with the Registered Manager.
To work co-operatively and collaboratively with staff from other statutory and voluntary agencies in developing working partnerships.
Be part of the On-Call rota.
Ensuring Children and young people's health care needs are supported and followed up.
To promote a positive image of Connections 2 Independence through professional operation and conduct when dealing with members of the public, young people, and staff members.
Take responsibility for completing Mandatory Training and other relevant training, as identified in discussion with the Registered Manager.
Be part of the interview panel when requested by the Registered Manager and ensure the relevant job descriptions and interview questions are available if Business Support Manager is not available.
Arrange meetings, book facilities / equipment and prepare agendas.
Provide a high-quality care and support service as required.
Liaising with the Registered Manager and Business Support Officer in allocating additional training for staff.
Manage the Residential Support Workers who deal with the daily running of the home.
Complete Residential Support Workers supervisions.
Ensure Weekly Timetables and Weekly Goals have been set by Residential Support Workers with input from the children and young people.
Ensure the calendar is kept up to date for each child and young person.
Ensure all children and young people's files are up to date.
Ensure housing supplies and inventories are kept on top of when requested by management or staff.
Complete Quality Assurance tasks set by Registered Manager.
Support Health and Safety Officer in Daily, Weekly and Monthly Checks.
Report back any Health and Safety concerns to be actioned.
Keep the communal areas in the home modern and encouraging for children and young people to use.
Report any maintenance for the property to the Registered Manager.
Adapt to change and be prepared to cover shifts as and when required to show clear expectations and consistency for our children and young people.
Create, update, and monitor Risk Assessments and Care and Support Plans for all children and young people.
Attend Care Planning, Education and Review Meetings
Plan individual and group activities.
Work in collaboration with the Residential Support Workers in ensuring all the children and young people's care, support and emotional and living needs are being met.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Be involved in grievances, disciplinary's and fact-finding meetings.
Undertake HR Management Training.
To undertake other duties as required to ensure the professional running of the organisation.
Complete requested tasks by the Registered Manager and Director such as specialised projects.
Person Specification
Experience of working in a range of settings with vulnerable children and young people.
Demonstrable commitment by recognising and valuing children and young people's achievements in a range of learning styles.
Evidence of commitment to Personal Professional Development.
Experience of working on your own initiative and within a team.
Understanding and promoting Equal Opportunities to all staff children, young people, and professionals.
Applicant requires to take part in an Enhanced Criminal Record check / DBS.
Driving Licence and access to own transport including business insurance.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to children and young people empowerment and reintegration.
Ability to work flexibly and attend meetings as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Understand and follow The Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015 including the Quality Standards.
Good time management skills

Proven co-operation and communication skills.
Excellent level of IT literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and case management databases.
Minimum of an NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
GCSE's Grade C or above in English & Maths or equivalent.
