Job Description

The Role:




This role will see you leading a team of asset specific M&E service managers undertaking maintenance and refurbishment works across various academic and research buildings on the University estate. Management of annual maintenance contract spend of circa 8m. You will have the responsibility for ensuring that service levels are met and repairs are completed efficiently to minimise disruption to the University core business of teaching and research. You will ensure the terms of the contracts are complied with and that services are delivered to the required standards. You will be accountable for the performance of the service managers , including continual monitoring of CAFM system data, KPI performance, response and rectification times and other key performance metrics. As part of this role you will develop and implement strategies for improving the performance and value of maintenance and compliance activities including the assessment of M&E asset condition to inform the University operational and capital programmes. The service management team will act as system experts, working collaboratively with the first response, compliance, Building Surveying, Sustainability and Programme Delivery teams as well as other members of the Asset Management section.

About you:




In order to succeed in this role, you will need to be an experienced mechanical and electrical engineer with a proven track record of successfully delivering maintenance and refurbishment projects to complex, highly serviced buildings.


You are able to demonstrable experience of managing maintenance contracts for multiple buildings. As well as this you have experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance and statutory compliance activities. For this role you will need strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills which will help you with your ability to work within a team, plan and manage work activities, communicate and prioritise workloads. Qualifications It would be great if you had a relevant qualifications within Industry Sector, e.g. IWFM, IAM, IET and/ or an appropriate Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Engineering or Substantial vocational experience suitable for the role.
