Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (SaLT)
to join a multi/interdisciplinary team, providing SaLT support to individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) and other neurological conditions. The role involves delivering assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation services, while working collaboratively with service users, families, and professional colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Work as an autonomous SaLT within the multidisciplinary team.
Assess communication and its impact on daily life; provide intervention and rehabilitation plans.
Support service users with eating, drinking, and swallowing needs under supervision.
Work with service users' social networks to problem solve and overcome communication barriers.
Provide training and guidance to staff and families.
Attend MDT meetings and complete relevant reports.
Contribute to service and organisational development initiatives.
Requirements:
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
Registered with the HCPC.
Achieved Dysphagia Competencies.
Specialist knowledge of SaLT interventions in ABI, including social communication, cognitive communication, and communication partner training.
Experience managing dysphagia in an adult neurology caseload.
Minimum 18 months' experience in relevant neurological settings.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of an MDT.
