Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arrived for an enthusiastic individual to work with Tulip Mental Health and Community Care Limited.
The Service aims to provide a homely and safe environment. We aim to provide support to encourage and enable the people in our care and our colleagues to reach their full potential together.
We currently have homes in Manchester where you will be supporting the people in our care in a kind, caring, positive and therapeutic way. The service aims to support the people in our care to engage in the community, education, and vocational activities with the aim of promoting independence.
You will be based within one of our New Residential Homes in Manchester.

To provide support to Tulip Service Users in line with the Organisations aim to provide a high-quality support service tailored to suit everyone's person-centred care plan and to promote independence and choice to maximise their potential.

PERSON CENTRED



Provide care and support as identified

in

care plans, as directed by senior staff members.

To promote independence, life skills and informed choices in accordance with the individuals care plan and to enhance inclusion in the community.

To provide personal care where required which may involve supporting with; continence needs; health and medication needs; handling personal possessions; finances and documents; shopping.

To promote dignity and facilitate to ensure personal care provision is in a safe and appropriate environment, where directed through the care plan.

To ensure effective communication and relationships with the service users and to be aware of the communication differences and adopt an approach that minimises the effect of such differences in accordance with their care plan.

To manage behaviours adhering to strategies and procedures set out within individuals care plan and in accordance with relevant legislation.

DEVELOPMENT



Ensure service user's individual needs are met through effective care planning and review. Review and monitor care plans.

Interact and participate with the service users in the development of self-help skills, supporting individual's to reach their potential for independence.

Maintain professional knowledge and competence.

Ensure you read a copy of the Skills for Care Code of Conduct

To undertake any training required in order to perform the role more effectively, acknowledging any deficits in knowledge or practice, identifying training needs and formulating training plans.

SUPPORTIVE



Act as a Keyworker to an individual service user, taking on responsibility for specified areas of care and support. Ensure all medical needs are met and support the individual to advocate his/her own needs and wishes.

Work within the philosophies of the service to minimise the effects of service users' learning disabilities and/or mental health, demonstrating an understanding and commitment to the rights of the individuals.

Consistently apply non-aversive strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours and contribute to the review and development of any such strategies.

QUALITY



Encourage and enable service users to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene.

Ensure that service user's personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard, reporting any requirements to senior staff members.

Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with service user's personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with individuals. To contribute towards the protection of individuals from abuse, adhering to the organisational and local authority safeguarding policies and national legislation.

TEAM WORK



Record information about service user's and ensure effective communication with all staff members.

Liaise with other agencies/professionals as necessary, in consultation with senior staff members.

Take responsibility for running a shift in the absence of senior staff members, as delegated to do so.

Participate in staff and service user meetings as and when required.

Work in a team, contributing to effective team working and participating in reviews of service delivery standards.

EMPOWERING



Facilitate and support service users in decision making, promoting choice and involvement giving full regard to initiatives aimed at promoting service user empowerment.

Support service user participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities within the local community in line with ordinary life principles. Support service users to access holidays and day trips of their choice.
To promote travel training, money management, and independent life skills

INFECTION CONTROL



It is the duty of all employees to take all reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves, and any other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work. They must also

co

-operate with senior managers and other employees in fulfilling our objectives and statutory duties. In particular, they must:

Comply with the training, information and instruction they have been given in relation to infection control.

Carry out hand hygiene procedures in line with Tulip policy and as instructed by management.

Not attempt to carry out work which may expose them to the risk of infection, or which may otherwise compromise infection control standards unless they have been trained and authorised to do so.

Carry out their work safely and without undue risk to themselves, colleagues and others who may be affected by their actions, and not intentionally interfere, misuse or ignore arrangements, controls and items provide for infection control purposes.

Check equipment and materials before using them, and not to use such equipment which they know to be faulty or contaminated.

Comply with the arrangements

for

infection control incidents, outbreaks and emergencies as they have been instructed.

Use the personal protective equipment provided.

Co-operate with management, colleagues and advisors promoting safe infection control practices.

Report to their manager if they are suffering from diarrhoea, vomiting and/or a respiratory infection and comply with any instructions relating to exclusion from work.

Senior Support Worker



The Senior Support Worker plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to service users, while providing guidance and supervision to the wider care team. This position combines hands-on support with leadership responsibilities, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, regulatory standards, and best practice.

Other Key Responsibilities



Care and Support



Provide high standards of personalised care and support in line with individual care plans. Promote independence, dignity, and choice for all service users. Assist with daily living activities, medication administration, and emotional support as required. Act as a point of escalation for complex needs or incidents.

Team Leadership



Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff to ensure effective performance. Lead shifts, allocate duties, and ensure appropriate staffing levels. Support staff development through training, guidance, and constructive feedback. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive working environment.

Compliance and Audits



Ensure all practices comply with CQC, Ofsted, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits of care records, medication administration, and health and safety checks. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to evidence compliance and quality of care. Support management in preparing for inspections and implementing improvements from audit outcomes.

Health, Safety, and Safeguarding



Promote and maintain a safe environment for service users, staff, and visitors. Adhere to safeguarding policies, reporting concerns promptly and appropriately. Ensure risk assessments are completed and regularly reviewed. Take proactive steps to minimise risks and respond effectively to incidents.

Communication and Reporting



Maintain clear and professional communication with service users, families, colleagues, and external professionals. Record and report on care delivery, incidents, and outcomes in line with organisational procedures. Provide accurate updates to management and contribute to team meetings.

Service Development



Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the service. Support the implementation of new policies, procedures, and care approaches. Participate in training and professional development to enhance personal and team capability.
