Senior Team Leader - Warehouse Shifts



Role Purpose:

To deliver the daily production plan in the most cost-effective manner in full compliance with current customer/brand product specifications, GMP, HACCP, Allergen Control and specified food hygiene standards, always maintaining the Health, Safety and the welfare of yourself and others to the desired legal and company standards.

Manage risk to create a safe working environment in the warehouse and manage its improvement

Accountable for ensuring Goods Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance for your specified area of responsibility

Quality products / Specifications


Ensure quality is delivered to a level that meets Customer standards and expectations for your area of responsibility, including complaints and resolution

Service levels


Operates effectively in delivering the production schedule and is accountable for its fulfilment in your specified area. Works with Goods Out office to ensure product availability

Efficiency / Improvement Programs



Supervise the control of component usage, direct labour, utilities consumption and manufacturing consumables within your department to support the Warehouse Manager. Measure any variances from standard levels, explain the variance and deliver plans of action to improve performance to the target level. Measure and report on department performance explaining variances to agree standards. Initiate and support the Warehouse Manager in delivery of continuous improvement projects, using team members and appropriate specialist support staff as required

Manage teams' performance, conduct and development. Review their progress against agreed objectives and annual appraisal review. Accountable for requesting agency staff / casual labour for the department through the Warehouse Manager Accountable for managing and authorising overtime through the Warehouse manager Ensure that skills matrices are accurate and current, support the Warehouse Manager to develop a succession plan for the team.

Performance Measures:



Ensuring that the correct manning is in place for each shift, whilst remaining within budgets. Complete Team Leaders end of shift Reports. - These need to be completed fully, showing persons who have left shift early with reasons, anything that has happened during your shift and complete the questions at the bottom of the report. Return to Work (RTW) forms. Carryout investigations / interviews to be conducted inline with company policy and procedure. Complete weekly H&S inspection sheets. Ensure that the warehouse is checked weekly and any Out-of-Date stock is notified to the Dispatch Manager and disposed of accordingly. Ensure Agency Request Sheets are completed daily by agency staff and are left on the Managers desk. Ensure that the yard area outside the Goods Out warehouse is clear of debris. Coordinate with Goods In and Yard Senior Team Leaders of any operational matters. Report any repairs requirements to MHE as they arise to Warehouse Manager. Seek Engineer support for repairs as required. Ensure that and Haulage is loaded / Unloaded in a timely manner. Ensure that all Pallet trucks are accounted for and available daily. Ensure that Scanner guns are fully charged and are signed for In / Out during your shift. Ensure that the office area is cleared of any PPE.
In the absence of a Dispatch operative, you will be required to complete the below actions on System 21:

Knowledge Skills & Experience:



Proven 5 years Warehouse experience typically gained within a FMCG environment Experience of working in a unionised environment/ working environment/ worker council Knowledge of production planning processes Knowledge of retailer standards and how to control quality in a food manufacture. Experience of performance management and people development techniques. Knowledge of budgeting and cost control. Lean Manufacturing techniques and ability to apply in live situations (Desirable). Manufacturing and/ or Management qualification, Level 3 or above (Desirable). IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate (Desirable).
