About the role (External)





This role sits in Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to the routes in the safest, most cost-efficient and effective way, enabling them to benefit from economies of scale and optimised national resources.


Working in the Route Services IT Team, you will provide our customers with smart technology for the railway of today, designing fit-for-purpose and innovative solutions. Your vital work will help to manage the day-to-day running of our vast IT estate, from safety critical systems maintenance to hardware provision, supporting thousands of employees every day.


Requirements include expertise for the SAP Business Intelligence Platform (BIP) including installation, configuration, security, and operations. This will be further augmented with experience of design and build of UNV style Universes using the Universe Designer, and both Web Intelligence reports and Crystal Reports. Experience of building UNX style Universes using the Information Design Tool would also be beneficial, along with expertise in development pipelines and how they are managed within a BIP environment.


Requirements also include expertise for Microsoft Power BI On-premise Data Gateways, including installation, configuration, security, and operations. Experience with Data Source creation for Oracle and SQL server databases is also required. Experience of connectivity to Azure data lakes in the MS cloud may also be beneficial. Understanding of the design practices recommended for PBI Dataflows, Datamarts, Datasets and Reports will enable you to troubleshoot problems requiring technical support.

What will you be doing?



To design, develop and maintain customisations and extensions to the supported applications as required by project and production support teams Analyse and tune existing customisations and provide supporting documentation that is accurate and conforms to Network Rail Standards Assess the impact of patches and technical upgrades upon customised code and provide solution options Resolve support issues within the production environment as required Identify and develop code to be used in a common code library. Provide technical advice and consultancy to IM and the business
