We're looking for a

Senior Test Engineer

to join our CX Platform Team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc.


Bring your technical testing expertise to influence and enhance how we deliver quality across our feature teams -- including hands-on experience with test automation.


This is an opportunity to collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineers to shape the quality of our products and platforms. Ensure quality for our customers by implementing best practices and standards in an efficient and scalable manner.


Our technology landscape is broad, where experience in Mobile and Online Banking testing is essential, along with a working knowledge of other banking domains. While extensive expertise in every area isn't required, you should be comfortable learning new products and technologies.

What you'll be doing

Delivering risk-based testing approaches by defining test coverage aligned to customer impact and business risk. Applying Agile testing principles with a strong understanding of how testing integrates into Agile delivery methodologies. Implementing and maintaining automated test suites to drive efficiency and support continuous delivery. Ensuring compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory codes. Collaborating with other Senior Test Engineers to maintain a consistent and high-quality customer experience across all channels.

We need you to have

Proficiency with tools and languages such as Java, Selenium, SOAP/REST, Cucumber, Appium, and Karate. Hands-on experience in building and maintaining test automation frameworks, including API testing. Proven experience working in collaborative Agile development environments, with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Extensive experience in software testing or within Retail Banking.
Demonstrated experience testing in a DevOps environment, ideally within a Trunk-Based Development team.

Experience coaching junior staff. Experience of cross browser and cross device testing. Understanding of Behaviour Driven Development and CI/CD. Data Testing in financial services environment.

Additional Information

Role Alignment

Following the announcement regarding Tesco's'

strategic partnership

with Barclays, this role will support our banking business and will transfer to Barclay's UK towards the end of 2024, subject to regulatory approval. Please note, the transfer date may change.
