About the role
Working within the Blyth Warehouse, the role of Team Leader / Senior Op is to facilitate the effective management & shipment of sales orders, marketing materials and repairs, to meet internal and external customer expectations. This is a vital role within our business and is key to the on-going growth and development of Draeger Safety UK Ltd.
The role is to organise the warehouse logistics in Blyth, ensuring outgoing goods are correctly packaged and despatched and incoming deliveries accepted, booked and processed in a timely manner. Also to ensure that goods stored in the warehouse are appropriately sorted in the correct area, scrapped with the correct paperwork if necessary.
In addition to the day-to-day operational oversight of the warehouse the role will be responsible for the support, motivation and line management relating to multiple team members (including OFMs), as well as ensuring cover in the Warehouse at all times.
Main Job Objectives
Empower and support any team members with day-to-day decision-making across all Store operations
Lead real-time problem-solving, task prioritisation, and resource allocation to ensure seamless operations at Blyth Warehouse
Act as a key liaison between Warehouse / Shipping and Management, resolving escalations effectively
Provide mentorship and deliver training for the other team members in all locally managed processes
Support or lead special projects, bringing visibility to key initiatives that drive growth and innovation
Manage outbound shipments (domestic and international), including order accuracy, PGI, and timely logistics
Monitor and coordinate scheduled pick-ups with carriers and freight forwarders
Track and log all outgoing deliveries, ensuring clarity with tracking details and SAP updates
Review and process returns on behalf of the Customer Management team as and when required
Maintain oversight of UK mainland workshop shipments, ensuring proper documentation is produced
Alongside Shipping office, ensure customs documentation and dangerous goods paperwork is complete and accurate
Conduct spot checks on packing lists and customs invoices to reduce administrative errors
Guarantee accuracy of all shipping and export documentation, working collaboratively with relevant partners
Contribute to inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and yearly audits
Identify inefficiencies and introduce process improvements to optimise workflows and cost savings
Coordinate compliant waste disposal in line with regulations
Ensure timely dispatch of all requested deliveries, with clear tracking and escalation when needed
Communicate proactively with management about potential risks and bottlenecks
Champion a safe working environment by following H&S risk assessments and encouraging safe practices
Oversee access and security protocols for the warehouse, ensuring all visitors and team members adhere to standards
Support the safe and compliant transport of dangerous goods globally
Work with Management to report on shipment volumes, turnaround times, and areas for efficiency gains
Maintain up-to-date logistics data and documentation within agreed systems
Complete all required training to fulfil responsibilities confidently

Your Qualifications
Role Requirements
Education/Qualifications
Hold relevant training and/or experience related skills linked to customer service, shipping, distribution and transport operations.
Related Experience
Demonstrable previous customer service, shipping and/or distribution experience.
Data entry relating to customer orders with SAP
Proven track record of achievement in a similar position.
Skills, Special Competencies
Proven understanding of shipping management.
Knowledge of dangerous goods transportation processes and regulations.
Excel and IT literate
Working knowledge of SAP essential.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Computer literate and capable of data input
Must be highly self-motivated.
Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
Dedicated to continuous improvement.
Customer Focus
Able to prioritise with respect to a wide range of different activities and drive to a successful conclusion. Will often have to work under pressure to meet deadlines. A hands-on attitude and with a "no problem" approach.
