This role is paid at the top end of the market to attract an elite, experienced operator who can take control of difficult sites and get work moving fast.
The Role
We are looking for a highly experienced, authoritative working foreman to support our Project Management team across multiple landscaping projects.
This is a hands-on, pace-setting role for someone who thrives on fixing problems on site.
You will be deployed to projects that are falling behind programme, losing momentum, or dropping standards. When you arrive, your job is to take control, reorganise the site, and physically lead from the front.
You will not stand back and supervise -- you will choose a critical task, work on the tools for 1-2 days, and set the pace and standard for the team before handing the site back to the Project Manager.
This is not an office role.
This is not a planning role.
This is delivery enforcement through action.
Key Responsibilities
Site Intervention & Recovery
Attend sites at the request of the Project Manager
Take short-term control of sites that are behind programme
Reorganise labour, sequencing, and daily outputs
Identify blockers and remove them quickly
Reset expectations and standards immediately
Recover momentum and hand sites back in control
Hands-On Leadership
Work on the tools when required
Lead by example on critical tasks
Demonstrate correct methods, sequencing, and pace
Show teams how the job should be done properly and efficiently
Raise output through presence, not shouting
Authority & Discipline
Act with full on-site authority while deployed
Override poor site decisions where necessary
Challenge poor workmanship immediately
Enforce company standards without compromise
Support Team Leaders -- and step over them if required
Quality & Standards
Maintain high-end finish quality on premium projects
Prevent rework through correct setup and supervision
Identify quality issues early and resolve them on site
Protect the company's reputation at all times
Communication & Reporting
Provide clear, honest updates to the Project Manager
Report progress, risks, and outcomes daily while deployed
Escalate serious issues immediately
Hand sites back cleanly once stabilised
Authority & Position
You are deployed by the Project Manager
You do not own projects or clients
You do not price work or approve spend
You exist to enforce delivery and protect programme
This role strengthens PM authority -- it does not replace it.
Required Experience
Essential
15-25+ years of hands-on landscaping experience
Strong background in hard landscaping
Proven experience running sites and leading teams
Deep practical knowledge of:
Groundworks
Paving and structural landscaping
Build sequencing
Site logistics
Confident working across multiple live sites
Strong understanding of health & safety
Desirable
Previous senior foreman, site manager, or contracts manager role
Experience on high-end residential landscaping projects
SMSTS / SSSTS / CSCS (or equivalent)
The Person We're Looking For
You are:
Calm, firm, and respected
Comfortable taking control when required
Direct and no-nonsense
Solutions-focused
Not afraid to challenge poor performance
Motivated by results, not popularity
This role is not suitable for:
Office-based managers
People who avoid confrontation
Supervisors without deep trade experience
Anyone who prefers planning over doing
Why This Role Exists
This role exists to:
Recover slipping projects quickly
Protect programme and margin
Reduce PM firefighting
Raise standards across all teams
Ensure problems are fixed fast and properly
How to Apply
If you are someone who can walk onto a struggling site, take control, and get it moving again by leading from the front, we want to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV and a short note explaining why this role suits you
