We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Service Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional service and support for our products, ensuring customer satisfaction through effective troubleshooting and maintenance. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong technical background in engineering principles.
Hours are 45 per week, Monday to Friday between core hours of 08:00 and 18:00, incl. 1 hour unpaid break.
Line Managed by the Senior Engineer.
Duties
The role of Service Engineer within Hooper Services Ltd relates primarily to the following areas:
PAT Testing of client equipment to current regulations
The Service Engineer is responsible for the following client and Company equipment areas
- Vacuum cleaners
- Floor Polishers
- Floor Buffers
- Floor Scrubber Dryers
- Water Boilers
- Domestic and Commercial White Goods
Within the above categories, the Service Engineer will:
- Perform diagnostic fault investigation
- Initiate repairs as appropriate
- "Run test" the equipment
- Train end-user(s) as to correct and efficient working
The Service Engineer will be in a position to draft / complete a report on the equipment's function and potential replacement life cycle
Compile report(s) on consumables used during repairs and / or service work, and liaise with the Service Administrators to ensure accurate and timely invoicing to the client(s)
Read and interpret technical diagrams, order appropriate parts (liaison with Service Administrators)
Provide technical support and training to customers on product usage and best practices.
Manage vehicle stock of consumables and ready-use spares
Attend organised training courses as appropriate
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance service delivery
Undertake technical development and training through own cognisance
Monitor and manage own vehicle service schedule
Build and improve Company / client relationship through outstanding professionalism
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all service operations.
At all times act in the best interest of the Company
Experience
A qualification in Engineering or a related field (mechanical or electrical background) is preferred, though relevant experience will also be considered.
Previous experience in a service engineer role or similar position is advantageous.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems is essential.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically under pressure.
Effective communication skills to interact with clients and team members professionally.
Full UK manual Driving License for a minimum of 12 months (subject to insurance requirements) for travel to client locations.
