Job Purpose:
The Workshop Service Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of portable gas monitoring equipment and other health and safety equipment. The technical element of this role involves equipment/component inspection and diagnostics, fault rectification, preventive maintenance and unit calibrations. The Workshop Service Engineer is also instrumental in maximising workshop operations, reporting to the line manager any procedural improvements that could be implemented to streamline department process, improving overall department efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and calibration of portable gas monitoring equipment in accordance with EH40/2005 Workplace exposure limits.
Carry out fault diagnosis and remedial works required including component repair and/or replacement.
Carry out pre delivery calibrations and warranty returns.
Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, service history, and calibration certificates.
Coordinate and prioritise servicing and maintenance tasks based on urgency and workflow demands.
Advise on technical and logistical requirements at quotation phase for new and existing service contracts.
Provide technical support and assistance to customers regarding equipment operation and maintenance advice and provide basic user training where appropriate.
Provide technical support and assistance to cross functional FLS teams where required.
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure adequate inventory levels of spare parts and consumables are available for servicing activities.
Follow established procedures for the handling and storing of hazardous gases used in equipment calibration.
Adhere to health and safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
What we are looking for:
Experience in a similar role within gas detection, health and safety or technical equipment
Confident in providing technical assistance and support to internal and external stakeholders
Attention to detail is essential as is the ability to plan and manage a busy and varied workload
Competent in working with IT equipment and various software packages, i.e. Microsoft Office and Web Based Systems
Familiarity with regulations surrounding EH40/2005
Full UK driving licence (Desirable)
