About the role:
We're looking for an
enthusiastic and proactive Service Engineer
to take the lead in maintaining and managing our large hire fleet. This is a hands-on, varied role that comes with a high level of
ownership and responsibility
.
Yes, there's plenty of hands-on, outdoor work, but you'll be the
key engineer making sure our equipment is always safe, reliable, and ready to go when our clients need it.
You'll lead on servicing, diagnostics, and repairs, and play a crucial part in
supporting clients
and representing the company.
What you'll do:
Servicing industrial vacuum equipment including diesel engines, electrical fault-finding, and mechanical repairs
Liaising with the Hire Controller to ensure that clients get the right equipment when they want it and managing your workload accordingly
Completing service report paperwork
Inspecting, preparing and power washing hire equipment (it's physical and outdoors)
Loading/unloading equipment using forklift trucks
Assisting our manufacturing team with fabrication, machining, paint spraying, shot blasting and using power tools as needed
Occasional site visits or call-outs to troubleshoot or support clients
Supporting clients over the phone with troubleshooting and advice
Mentoring apprentices and sharing your knowledge
What we're looking for:
We're after someone
practical, hands-on and reliable
, with a good sense of ownership and the ability to
manage their own time
. You must be able to work independently but also pitch in as part of our small, friendly team.
Essential:
Positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
Previous engineering experience such as time-served apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 or relevant experience
Experience with industrial machinery or engines
Electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience
Physically fit - there's lots of hands-on outdoor work
Able to manage workload, prioritise, and problem solve under pressure
Comfortable speaking with clients and representing the business
A valid driving licence
Preferred:
Forklift Truck Driving experience
What we offer:
40,000 base salary
, plus:

Time-and-a-half overtime pay
Standard working hours: 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday (4.30pm on Fridays)
Occasional flexibility required for out-of-hours support
Christmas and New Year off
Based at our Flixborough facility -
