Salary range: 59,739 - 63,159 . inc. London weighting
Contract: Permanent
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategically minded Service Manager to lead Brent Council's Financial Assessments service. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of accurate, timely, and customer-focused financial assessments that support adult social care and other statutory services.


You will manage a team of Team Leaders, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies, while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency. The post holder will play a key role in shaping service delivery, implementing digital solutions, and using data to inform decision-making and performance monitoring.

The Person

We are looking for a confident and experienced leader with a strong understanding of financial assessment processes within Housing Benefits Council tax Support and Council Tax. Knowledge and understanding of the Adult social care-Financial Assessments, Appointee/Deputy functions and Independent Travel team are desirable.


You will be analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality services that meet statutory requirements and support vulnerable residents.





The ideal candidate will demonstrate:



Proven experience in managing financial assessment or income-related services in a local authority or similar setting. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams. Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Ability to interpret complex financial information and use data to drive service improvements. A collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders. High standards of integrity, professionalism and compliance. A proactive mindset with the ability to manage change and deliver results in a fast-paced environment Embrace the Council's Change portfolio and its values in all interactions
