As our UK operation continues to grow, we're recruiting a hands-on Service Workshop Foreman to lead our busy service and repair facility.
Role Purpose
A blended role combining technical expertise and day-to-day leadership. You'll be a time-served HGV technician with trailer experience who leads by example on the shop floor, upholds safety standards, and ensures right-first-time repairs.
The position is approximately 85% practical / 15% administrative, including job planning, parts coordination, and customer communication.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Technical
Service, repair, and maintain STAS trailers and HGVs to OEM and DVSA standards.
Diagnose and repair braking, suspension, hydraulic, and electrical systems (WABCO experience preferred).
Carry out high-quality aluminium and steel welding and fabrication.
Conduct safety checks, roadworthiness inspections, and final sign-off.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-compliant workshop environment.
Leadership & Supervision
Lead by example; provide hands-on guidance, allocate work, and monitor progress.
Drive a positive, safety-first culture with strong housekeeping and PPE compliance.
Mentor and support apprentices and junior technicians.
Ensure deadlines, quality standards, and workshop efficiency targets are achieved.
Customer Interaction & Administration
Communicate professionally with customers regarding diagnostics, estimates, and updates.
Accurately complete job cards, service reports, and related documentation.
Coordinate closely with the Sales, Parts and Rental departments to optimise workflow.
Assist with scheduling, quotations, and warranty claim submissions as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
Fully qualified HGV/Truck Mechanic (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experience with braking, suspension, and diagnostic systems (WABCO preferred).
Strong aluminium and steel welding/fabrication skills.
Excellent mechanical and fault-finding ability.
Confident using IT systems for reports and job management.
Desirable
Prior workshop foreman or supervisory experience.
Familiarity with SAF/JOST axles, tyre inflation/TPMS, and EBS diagnostics.
