The Role:
Sessional Teaching Fellow in Law (Hourly Paid or Fixed Term)
The School of Law is seeking to appoint Sessional Teaching Fellows to support teaching and assessment across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are recruiting for two types of roles:
Sessional Teaching Fellow - Teaching and Assessment
These roles involve:
Delivering subject-specific or general legal teaching
Supporting students through academic guidance
Marking and moderating assessments
We welcome applicants with academic expertise in any area of law, as well as those with legal practice experience who can contribute to our professional practice modules.
Sessional Teaching Fellow - Assessment-Only
These roles are focused solely on:
Marking and moderating student assessments
No teaching delivery or student support responsibilities
Assessment work may be allocated across undergraduate (Levels 4-6) and postgraduate (Level 7) modules, depending on your expertise and availability.
Successful candidates for either role may be asked to contribute to any of the School's courses, with topics matched to their skills and experience. Prior experience of marking law assessments in higher education is essential. Candidates must be familiar with academic standards, assessment rubrics, and able to provide clear, constructive feedback aligned with learning outcomes.
Please indicate in your application:
which role you are applying for; and
the areas of law in which you are able to contribute.
Working hours will vary depending on subject area, your availability, and the School's needs throughout the academic year. We aim to offer flexible arrangements that accommodate other professional commitments.
