Position: Sewing Machinist

Location: Derby, Derbyshire

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 per week

Pay: 18.00-18.50 per hour (based on experience)

Overview:

We are a specialist recruitment agency currently looking for experienced Sewing Machinists to join a busy manufacturing factory in Derby. This is a fantastic permanent opportunity offering an excellent hourly rate and steady full-time hours. You will be working in a fast-paced production environment, operating industrial sewing machines to produce high-quality textile products. Immediate starts are available for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate industrial single-needle, overlock, and flatbed sewing machines efficiently and safely Sew a range of textile products/components to meet daily production targets Follow technical specifications, patterns, and quality standards Inspect finished work to ensure it meets required quality and accuracy standards Carry out basic machine maintenance and report any faults Maintain a clean and organised workstation Work effectively within a team to achieve production deadlines

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist or Seamstress in a factory/production setting Strong knowledge and hands-on ability with industrial sewing machines (single needle, overlock, twin needle, etc.) Ability to work at a consistent, fast pace while maintaining high accuracy and quality Good understanding of health & safety practices in a factory environment Reliable, punctual, and committed to full-time hours Previous experience in textiles, upholstery, or automotive trimming is an advantage but not essential
