Role Overview
As a Sewing Machinist, you will play a critical role in the manufacture of high-quality fishing luggage and accessories. Working from technical drawings and production specifications, you will assemble, and stitch complex textile components with precision and consistency. This role requires a strong eye for detail, excellent machine-handling skills, and a commitment to premium craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Operate industrial sewing machines to produce premium fishing luggage and related products
Prepare materials accurately using patterns, templates, and technical drawings
Cutting materials is not required for this role, although experience in material cutting would be advantageous.
Assemble and stitch components to exact specifications, ensuring strength, durability, and clean finishes
Follow detailed blueprints, work instructions, and quality standards for each product
Carry out fine-detail sewing and finishing work to a consistently high standard
Inspect finished items to ensure they meet quality, aesthetic, and functional requirements
Identify and report defects, material issues, or production concerns
Maintain sewing machines and tools, carrying out basic adjustments and upkeep
Adhere to health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area
Work collaboratively with production, design, and quality teams to meet deadlines and production targets
Skills
Proven experience as a Sewing Machinist or Industrial Machinist (textiles, luggage, upholstery, or similar)
Confident operating a range of industrial sewing machines
Experience working with heavy-duty fabrics, technical textiles, or reinforced materials preferred
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, patterns, and specifications
Exceptional attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality standards
A methodical, reliable, and quality-focused approach
