With a recent multi-million-pound investment in our Heckmondwike facility, we are significantly increasing our manufacturing output and looking for skilled individuals to support our continued growth.

The Role: Sewing Machinist

Working from daily schedules, job cards, or verbal instructions, you will be responsible for bringing our products to life. This is a hands-on role where accuracy and speed are key to meeting our production demands, including our crucial express delivery service for online customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Operation: Collect pre-cut materials of various shapes and sizes and expertly sew them together to create high-quality products. Embellishment: Accurately incorporate essential additions such as labels, zips, tickets, and critically fire labels into product borders as required. Quality Control: Proactively check materials and products for missed stitching, flaws, and dirty marks before and during the sewing operation to maintain our high-quality standards. Efficiency: Ensure all products are completed on time for the next process, demonstrating a fast reaction to orders to meet quick turnaround times. Finishing: Identify, neatly fold, and store completed batches, moving them to the designated storage location ready for the subsequent stage. Compliance: Adhere strictly to all Health and Safety policies, including the proper use of required PPE, and complete necessary pre-use checks at the start of your shift. Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and tidy workstation and surrounding areas, ensuring aisles are clear and waste is properly disposed of.

What We're Looking For:

Proven Experience: You must be a trained and competent sewing machine operator. Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to ensuring stitching quality, correct material specifications, and the accurate placement of labels (including fire and barcode labels) is essential. Pace and Productivity: The ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet daily production targets and customer deadlines. Reliability: A commitment to good housekeeping and following all operational procedures and reasonable duties as requested. Team Player: Ability to follow instructions clearly (written or verbal) and to know when to seek clarification if in doubt about product specifications.
