Overview

A well-established manufacturing business in Southampton is looking for a skilled and motivated Sewing Machinist to join their on-site production team. This role involves working from patterns or drawings to manufacture precise fabric linings, ensuring all products meet required quality standards. Key Duties

Read and follow sewing patterns or technical drawings Cut fabrics such as cotton, wool, polyester, and blackout materials to size Operate sewing machines and adjust settings as needed for different materials Record fabric and material usage per task Maintain a tidy and organised workstation Perform basic equipment maintenance and report faults Inspect finished products to ensure quality and correct labeling Manage laundry tasks: wash, dry, fold, label, and pack as required Participate in stock checks and inventory
Key Responsibilities

Support the team and contribute to a clean, safe working environment Ensure laundry and fabric tasks are completed efficiently Follow all Health & Safety protocols Assist with equipment checks and report any issues Carry out additional ad hoc duties as assigned
Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience as a sewing machinist (preferred) Ability to follow instructions, patterns, and work independently Positive team player with a "hands-on" attitude Must be able to commute reliably or plan to relocate to Southampton
