Protosheet Engineering designs, manufactures and installs a large variety of items, from a basic planter, to a full size replica of the international space station.

With over 60 years experience in a variety of industries we design, manufacture and install whatever our customers require. Our customers range from the one off to customers of many many years. Works range from high end residential, hotels, museums, industrial, all the way down to the man in the street who wants something for his BBQ

You will be based in our Crayford workshop but may be expected to visit site if required. We have a fully equipped workshop, with CNC brake presses, Guillotines and a variety of manual equipment plus various MIG & TIG welding plants.

The Role: We are looking to recruit an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator & Welder who will be able to fabricate his own work from start to finish reading the drawings supplied.

Based in our Crayford workshop you will:

Fabricate components to specification from CAD drawings Work with Mild & Stainless steel, Aluminium, Brass & Copper MIG & preferably TIG weld to a high standard Bending and folding sheet metal using press brakes Assembly of items including mechanical fixings & fittings Complete work to a high standard of both quality & accuracy
You will have:

Proven experience in sheet metal work & welding Experience with guillotines, notchers & press brakes Confidence of working in all materials Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings Attention to detail & pride in quality of works completed
Candidates will be able to:

Read & interpret technical drawings, plans, and schematics to accurately shape and assemble metal components. Metal Cut & Shape using tools like shears, snips, brake presses etc. Weld & Solder joining metal parts through various techniques (MIG, TIG, spot welding, etc.). Measure & Layout with precise measurement using calipers, micrometers, squares, and rulers. Operate presses, rollers, brakes, and other fabrication machinery safely. Have knowledge of the various materials they will be working with, understanding the properties to prevent warping, cracking, or corrosion. Finish & Form as required, Bending, folding, and smoothing metal edges for aesthetic and functional purposes.
You will also:

Be highly organised, with the ability to plan tasks and time effectively Have a thorough and methodical approach to completing tasks Display a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation Take pride in the quality of your work Be inventive and creative (not essential!)
Beneficial (but also not essential) you will hold a full clean driving licence and a CSCS card

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 16.00-20.00 per hour
